Seven & Ten News (SCA)

Nick surely, Maddie possibly but is she known in Tas? Has she improved from when she did the GTS News… and always.. sounded like… she was being paused, multiple times… in every sentence.
Not sure there’s been really any other talent there in recent time who are suitable though.
Shame Tom Johnson has gone, but maybe with the 7 take over imminent they can’t make any appointments.

Maddy does read the 10 Tasmania news updates, so she definitely is known in Tassie

Ahh. How does she go with a short timeframe. Her pacing on GTS was a struggle to watch for 20 minutes let alone a live hour.

Hopefully they can use someone who reports during the week as well.

I’m not even at SCA or in the state anymore. :joy:

All the best mate for whatever adventure comes next for you - I’m sure our Tassie members will miss seeing you on their screens.

This would actually be a great idea IMO. 5-10mins in the last 1/4 hour of 10 News+ handed over to local news and weather. An incentive for even mainly just people outside of the capitals to switch over at least towards the end of the hour. Done well it could work and even incentivise people to slowly check out the whole product.

Are there any other peoples google drives who have seven news or sunrise stuff up there if so can I have the link ?

Former sports presenter and current freelancer Michael Maney presenting Tas News this weekend. Imagine he’ll be in the chair for a while until someone new is appointed.

I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up getting the gigi.

Would be nice for him but I feel like 7 will want to make the call when they take over, and not sure if he’s who they’d pick.

I really hope 7 can treat Tas as it does the other stations, somewhere that’s seen as a destination itself not just as training group for anybody wanting to get back to Melbourne, really foster some talent and bring it up to metro standards.

True, I guess the decision will probably be seven’s - though in saying that, having someone like him wouldn’t be a bad idea, but I suppose it all boils down to costs, and also if he wants to do it full time.

Hopefully Seven have learnt by now to treat markets like Hobart and Adelaide with the same loyalty that viewers show them.

Was watching the 4pm 7 News bulletin yesterday and wondered if there might be a chance of anything Tasmanian when 7 starts running the Tasmanian operations next week. Highly doubting a full local bulletin at 4pm but would there be any chance of either incorporating some more of the Tasmanian stories in the bulletin or an insert component maybe from the Launceston studios or simply just having the weather segment at the end with Jane covering both Victoria and Tasmania. Just some thoughts/hopes.

Given the other cities all managed to run a 4pm bulletin with little to no extra resources, you’d think it’d be feisable that Tassie might get one eventually?

Appears there is a chance afternoon will become national.

Wasn’t that a new 3pm show? Or is it going to be that at 3pm then national news at 4pm?
If it’s national then slim chance of Tas news being in it regularly.

Be great if they could have a Tas reporter for Sunrise too.

I wonder if the regional news updates on 10 will be the first news item with the new graphics?

Now with the Tasmanian based station about to get different ownership most likely from Monday will there be a name change for the Tasmanian news service immediately or over the course of time?

Hopefully immediately. I could imagine Seven doesn’t want to keep carrying an old heritage name like 7 Tasmania Nightly News. All bulletins nationwide are branded as 7NEWS, except for Tasmania.

Moving into new premises at Charles St Launceston would’ve allowed the whole month (plenty of time) to get the 7NEWS branding and colours ready to go in the Launceston studio come 1st July 2025 (that’s if the rebrand goes ahead as we’ve all heavily speculated it would on the day of ownership changeover).

Notice how there’s a fair bit of red in the background of this news update from last month? That’s a sign the bulletin is being rebranded come the new financial year, aka 1st July 2025. It’s inevitable.

It’s “inevitable”, but also an “if” because it’s heavy speculation, but also happening because there’s red backlighting?
