Am hoping this is the case, just for the continuation of the updates, while 10 figures out how to best manage and possibly integrate the updates into each respective newsroom.
Will Boddy does the ACT updates. It was actually a nice ‘break’ from the ongoing cyclone coverage to see the local update today and they’re pretty good updates, in the ACT at least, given the limited resources.
Agree that some oversight/integration with 10 could see the quality lift further.
I was just going by Zeke’s X (Twitter bio) but seems they all fill in for each other as required.
The updates up here in Qld are all understandably cyclone related, but reporting on events from yesterday etc in an unfolding situation does make them a bit jarring.
Haven’t seen Zeke present before. Is he any good?
Still quite green from what I saw, will do better with more experience and guidance.
Quality of the updates is questionable, but understand why they report them as they do due to several limitations.
I would assume he’s filling in for Stacey Eldridge. All the presenters of the local 10 updates are quite good
It’s very much a temporary thing. The updates will eventually be moved to ATV in Melbourne, since they now own the 3-agg market licenses that were previously owned by SCA.
we don’t know that?
i think that’s only in paperwork terms, nobody has said Melbourne will be an operational/news hub for the ex-SCA channels?
Interestingly with 10 now owning the license, you’d think they’d actually be pumping out enough local news on the network to technically not need the updates in that market at the moment.
Every time you repeat this your phrasing becomes less “this is just my theory” and more “this is basically fact”.
The fact is that we don’t know yet. Please keep this in mind.
As we know, even if something is announced, it doesnt make it fact until it happens. Look at what happened with the planned National Nine News Tasmania bulletins that were proposed, even announced at Nines Upfronts, but never happened. So whether speculation or announced, until they follow through with whatever the strategy is moving forward, its a wait and see thing
has anything been announced to this effect?
I have not heard anything personally, and even if it has been, you cannot rely on it being fact, just a proposal until it actually happens. The example something announced in television not happening was the Nine News Tasmania plan.
Especially before editing Wikipedia.
Don’t think the staff (and we know from insiders that they do view the site) like coming on here and hearing stuff like “xxx is being moved to Melbourne” being said as a fact and adding extra stress to the future of their jobs.
And I dont think it will help that The Daily Fail staff come on here looking for “stories” to write about instead of looking for stories that require actual journalistic skills… just saying. Knowing the style of reporting they deliver, it will be written like its fact without any legitimate sources that confirms it.
I sincerely hope that they feature one of my quotes in one of their new articles. ![]()
What, statements often presented as fact? I for one hope they don’t, would be very irresponsible.
Especially since The Daily Mail are a reputable source of news who definitely double check facts rather than pass stuff off from a random internet forum and then publish it as a genuine fact, complete with a headline that definitely isn’t one designed to attract clicks ![]()
“An industry insider said…”
Adding to the theories of news once 10 takes over responsibility from SCA. If they prefer a centralised location over pairing each state with their capital city, could Mount Coot-tha be an option? There’s certainly no limit on space.
Some MS users have suggested adding local control in Brisbane, while they’re at it why not build it out a little more to give them a news hub for regional updates as well?
