Seven & Ten News (SCA)

well given that’s where these updates go, seems odd to include a whole state rather than just the region.

Speaking of the Canberra updates, Charlotte Italiano presented last night :slight_smile:

“Breaking news,” really :thinking::thinking:

Nope. WIN owns and runs the 10 station for NNSW.

wow, thanks for sharing before I go to sleep…

oh cut her some slack, you forget these are young people just starting out, she’s probably very excited.
She was fine on air, writing could be a bit tighter and a bit more local but she’ll be right!

The Launceston set should get a curved plasma screen and a curved glass top on the desk so Nick Kelly can present sport from the right hand side of the screen and be at the desk with Kim Millar.

I’m sure they’d do this if they had the money to do so.

Makes it more obvious when things are done from Launceston and Hobart in the one night. Currently it can be seamless without the average viewer noticing but if they’re both at the desk one night but then not the next it’s going to be more obvious.

It might be obvious but do you really think the average viewer cares? Does it reflect their ratings? Does it cost them money? No to all those answers. Only the small amount of people on Media Spy really care. It seems that only the “appearance” side of news gets mentioned on here not the most important part, the content. By looking at it appears if it ain’t broke then them there is no need to fix it.

Murph has been joking about Kim Millar going for it too just like Jo Palmer and Nick Duigan - there’s been a few also wanting Murph to run too as he has financial knowledge and is a big AFL team for Tassie supporter.

Sounds like you’re more backing me up - if it ain’t broke, no need to fix which is the case. A new desk will cost money and will there be a benefit? Nope - only for a few MediaSpy people who aren’t even from Tasmania. There’s no need to change it and it won’t affect their ratings either way if they have the desk or not so why do they need to do it? Just because the mainland with different formula for things does it that way? There’s no issues with the content which is shown by the ratings - it’s a much better product than both the alternatives on WIN and ABC.

I mean there are glaring issues with the content, but when it’s the only real choice of course people will watch. Complacency is never good though, that’s how you get a crumbling old set in use for 20 years.

That crumbling old set wasn’t by choice. The current set was designed by their news director back at the turn of the century and was never given funding by higher up.

so higher up were complacent and choose to keep the old set for 100 years? my point exactly, thanks for confirming.

Oh wow, I know he cops it a bit but he seems like a very decent bloke and it has been good having him in Tassie. Not sure if he’s a member here but all the best for the future, John!

Yes, he made a comment one day last week that he’d now retired from his day job during the throw back to Kim. Can’t remember which night it was.
