As in they will get them or as in you want them too?
It hasn’t been torn down. The old set hasn’t been removed either.
I think they should update to the current Seven News graphics, I’m sure other people would agree. I also hope Seven allows them to brand their bulletin as Seven Tasmania News.
We don’t have the room in Launceston for a big set.
there’s a giant massive studio, we’ve all seen it lol
I personally think having video walls does not improve the news presentation, in some cases it hinders it so a set with a desk and a green screen can be just as good.
The building has been sold and SCA are leasing back part of the building.
perhaps they have now lost access to the old studio?
oh well. guess they can future proof it when they move… lol
No we haven’t lost access to the studio, it’s still used for a variety of things, but it’s way WAY to cold to use and isn’t connected to the control room.
And we have the whole building still available to us, but not all of it is used.
The problem with a few of those suggestions are it means that the current ability to have news, sport or weather all coming from different ends of the state at any time and it being unified is lost. Having Kim and Nick at the same table is great but when Kim is doing it from Hobart for some reason it will be different.
Having the weather handover when the news is in Launceston but Hobart is doing the weather won’t be possible either. The way they have it now is great because all pieces can come together seamlessly and nobody knows (and apart from us even cares) that it’s all from the same building or from different buildings.
Backdrop of Blundstone is terribly political because of the AFL stadium proposal and fighting at the moment, Blundstone should be bombed and made to be residential.
The current method of the intro slide alternating between Blundstone, UTAS and and West Park in Burnie works. Hopefully the proposed Devonport stadium/sports precinct goes ahead and then they can get in the rotation too - way too much Burnie in there, but nice to have the north west represented! Isn’t parochialism great?
I remember seeing pictures at times of all the heaters around and in use at the studio there, hopefully the change has made a significant dent to the power bills!
Ando,
Why don’t they go for state based imagery backdrops like ABC NEWS?
Not sure but they have state based stuff coming back from the breaks with locations all across the state and the sport one has been the 3 locations in a rotation and the shot before the weather ad break is one from around Tasmania again as for a while a few years ago they used the 7 camera overlooking Hobart.
They could do that, a standard one of Hobart every night would work, they have a big enough hold on the bulletin that they could turn off all the lights and have nothing but people would still watch but alternating ones from across Tas would be good. Even if it was one of Hobart skyline, Launceston skyline and the one of the Mersey River in Devonport they’ve often used in their advertising - like this one below. But they’ve had better shots too.
Murph reading the news tonight, unexpected since Michael Maney has only just started covering weekends. Also he had to issue a lengthy apology for incorrect facts reported in a story last night. Otherwise, as always, loving Murph behind the desk.
Nah - we need Murph for news, sport and weather! Especially after he worked in his Labradorable joke tonight after the weather.
Failing that, John Hunt, @Techster and @DJPizarro should do the Christmas bulletin as the 3 Wise Men.
The set is really lacking design to reference Tasmania in any way and is really generic.
Lost opportunity
There’s definitely room for improvement, but it’s probably not within SCA’s budget/interests until the next affiliate deal
While I’m flattered, I’m due for holidays at the end of next week.
alright, I’ll allow it! Enjoy the break!
Thank you. I’ve been working since mid January and I need a bit of a rest.
He could’ve been sick
