Seven & Ten News (SCA)

I think I spot a blooper in the promo at the end of the live stream…

“… 7 News at 6…” while showing Nightly News footage of Peter Murphy. Also the ending tag doesn’t show Nightly News, just 7 Tasmania, no car shot.

Could 7 be taking editorial control? Could there be a change on the way here? Kim Millar is set to start on 20th.

Have they just used the same promo as metro cities with the same voiceover and just swapped some of the footage out with local scenes and half of the 7 Tasmania news branding?

When the Spencer Gulf News is on 7TWO do they adjust the local schedule if the network lineup isn’t a tidy half hour program that they can just cut out and replace? Or do they just cut the preceeding program early, or when the news is over just resume the network schedule as-is even if the original program is already halfway through?

The current program on 7TWO, 6.30pm - 7.30pm is Bargain Hunt. When Nightly News 7 Spencer Gulf is on at 7pm, SCA play a rpt of Medical Emergency at 6.30pm - 7.00pm, with their big ugly 7TWO watermark, (the same as clean feed days.) Bargain Hunt doesn’t go to air in Spencer Gulf.

Actually the Albury-Shepparton market gets a cut-down version of Seven News Melbourne at 6.30pm after their Prime7 local news at 6pm.

Could have been taken from the dirty record of a previous show. Then cropped to remove the logo?

i think so but the v/o guy is the one they use for the 7news melbourne intro

No. I believe they are different.

They have taken a direct copy of the Melbourne promo.

What’s the problem?

Is the same national promo that got localized for every market.

It’s really slick to me.

Two things, as already mentioned above.

The voiceover says, “7 News at 6“ and uses the 7 Tasmania watermark instead of the regular Nightly News one which identifies their specific bulletin.

Undoubtedly a decent promo, but just very inconsistent - something they’re not well known at anyway.

I’d say the inconsistencies are minor and easy for viewers to overlook. It blends in pretty seamlessly with the national promo that they borrowed.

Personally, I’d rather them do this and have one or two nitpicky inaccuracies over having them try and make their own thing and have it look nowhere near as polished.

It’s already out of date anyway so was probably only a temporary thing - Peter did his final bulletin on Friday night (at least I think it was Friday - all the days are a blur by now) and Kim starts on Monday with Murph back on the weather.

To be clear, I wasn’t nitpicking. I was curious as to whether or not it was a sign of a change coming Monday.

I still don’t understand why they couldn’t call the bulletin 7 Tasmania News

Don’t reporters sign off using that name?

Channel 7 voiced concerns about an affiliate using their full brand that they didn’t have editorial control (which ignores the fact that 7 Darwin/7 Central’s news bulletin was called ‘Seven News’.)
