Noel took long-service leave to contest that election.

Hmmmm…interesting. Here in the Philippines, one of our former Vice Presidents (Presidential system counterpart of the Parliamentary Deputy PM) is a veteran journalist. He left the local news department around 2000 to run for senator (which he won); then ran under the incumbent party’s ticket for the VP position which he also won in 2004. After declining offers to run for the top post, he returned as a journalist a few months after his term expired in 2010.

Louise from Nightly News 7 Spencer Gulf is getting married. Last night was her last bulletin.

Do they pop a sheet on the desk to cover the “7 Tasmania” duratran?

They’ve got the full ability to use the same wide shots that the Tasmanian bulletin does. Got no idea why not.

The light box isn’t an excuse that would be easy to replace.

Hopefully he’s in line to replace Peter Hitchener when he retires in 30 years

He’s in line alright. He’s at about 3,349,348th place. Last time I checked, I’m at about 2,349,123th place.

They’re getting creative with the angles they use for the Sunrise updates. Looks great!

Agree, looks better than the evening news presentation IMO.

Provides some nice depth to the set, which otherwise looks very flat and small usually.

They did still do green screen graphics while this set was around up to the point when they started doing this angle.

Not quite. They originally used the backdrop only, then they shifted the camera to catch the orange lightbox too. Now the camera is on a angle to catch more of the set.
