Unfortunately that means Hunty is in HD too…
What happened to the old weather presenter on Spencer Gulf NN?
Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) Executive General Manager Tasmania, Ally Bradley, today announced that former weekend news presenter, Kim Millar, will become the Nightly News on Seven Tasmania news anchor.
He took a little while to get into the swing of things but I haven’t minded Peter Murphy doing the news. Kim Millar is a good choice though and as a familiar face will be able to slip right back in again for the viewers.
Murph said there will be a special edition of 7 TAS News at 9:30pm
Yep, completely local and live “special late edition of nightly news”, it included details about 6 new Tasmanian cases which was only released about half an hour ago.
A red backdrop on the studio and a green one for a live cross to Michelle Wisbey in Hobart. Some shots of the nightlife in Hobart… or lack thereof now since the pubs have closed.
Now some of the stories which were shown in the earlier bulletin but this is the first time I can recall a local Tasmanian late night bulletin, very interesting indeed.
An interview recorded “earlier in the evening” too which wouldn’t have been too long ago as it is dark in the background.
Haha - not 100% accurate with graphics, “Michael Breen” was the reporter for a story with a female voice and a cross to Sean McComish where he was apparently in “Olympia, Greece” rather than what looked like Launceston.
Let’s be real, this is one of the only times they’ve ever stepped outside their normal bulletin so we might see problems. Well done to the team for providing something local!
Oh yeah, fully understand. I was really impressed with the fact they did it and the quality of it was great . I’ll try and get some caps of it but it certainly was the first time I can think of where we’ve had a local Tas bulletin late so it was great to see.
When TT was axed, the Adelaide news became a 1 hour bulletin and the local news was bumped from 6.30 on 7.
Short updates to give their viewers local headlines and weather.
Done on both 7 Spencer Gulf and 7 Tasmania.
Why do they show the Adelaide bulletin there? In Victoria they don’t (normally) show the Melbourne bulletin for example.
Yes but why? 7 Adelaide don’t do this and they are pre-recorded, right? What is the point?
(Also I find it funny that they are branded as nightly news updates but are broadcast in the mornings.)
Where in Victoria are you thinking and who is “they”? If you’re thinking Prime7 their only local Victorian news is in the Albury-Shepparton area which has their own “national” 6:30 news straight afterward to round out the hour, the other Victorian regions show the normal schedule with 7 News Melbourne. Southern Cross only makes a local half-hour and they decide to show the Adelaide news in full.
It’s local news content in an area that doesn’t get covered in the network national news. What’s your problem with it?

Different operators. In regional Victoria, Seven is represented by Prime7. In Spencer Gulf/Broken Hill all three networks are relayed locally by Southern Cross (GTS/BKN).
I’m surprised SCA doesn’t put the local news on 7, and H&A on 7Two.

I think all markets should do this. Local news updates into sunrise. The large markets should do them live. Regional markets could tape them the night before. Not so much is gonna happen in Wagga or rockhamptom overnight
Why can’t Brisbane and Melbourne etc be doing this. What time do they have staff in the newsroom?
