May be proven incorrect, but it seems like it’s the first time in a long time if not ever that both games on a given day on wildcard weekend are from the same conference (AFC games are on the Saturday with NFC on the Sunday), and it’s the first time in a while that NBC are covering a Sunday playoff game on wildcard weekend rather than a Saturday game.

2020 Santos Tour Down Under

Aussie star Richie Porte will be out to thwart Daryl Impey’s bid to become the first man to win the Santos Tour Down Under three times in a row, as one of the strongest fields ever assembled in Australia contests the UCI WorldTour’s opening event of 2020 live and free on Seven.

Porte has finished a narrow runner-up to Impey in the past two editions of Australia’s greatest cycling race and will be determined to turn the tables on the Mitchelton-Scott rider when this year’s event begins on Tuesday, January 21.

But the 2017 Ochre Jersey winner and undisputed King of Willunga Hill has plenty of other big-name rivals to contend with, including Trek-Segafredo teammate and reigning UCI World Road Champion Mads Pedersen, 2016 Tour de France runner-up Romain Bardet, Belgian breakaway specialist Thomas De Gendt and star sprinters Caleb Ewan, Elia Viviani and dual Santos Tour Down Under winner Andre Greipel.

Seven’s coverage gets underway on Thursday, January 16, with the Santos Women’s Tour Down Under. The first three stages of the newly elevated UCI ProSeries event will be live-streamed on 7plus for the first time, with fans able to enjoy the last two hours of each stage, while the fourth and final stage will again be live and free on Seven.

Australian star Amanda Spratt will be targeting a record fourth consecutive victory in 202o. But to claim the Ochre Jersey again she’ll have to outlast one of the most talented fields in race history, with 16 international and national teams confirmed starters.

The international voice of cycling, Phil Liggett, leads Seven’s commentary team, and will be joined by Australian cycling great Robbie McEwen and former one-hour world record-holder Jens Voigt.

Sunrise favourites Mark Beretta and James Tobin will host the coverage, while Australian cycling’s golden girls Anna Meares and Kate Bates are also part of the Seven team.

7Mate’s coverage of the NFL ProBowl took the ABC feed (ESPN’s coverage production, but with ABC watermark and ads, etc), whereas ESPN took ESPN’s direct feed (ESPN showed the whole game plus post game coverage before crossing to Sportcentre for a special edition on Kobe Bryants death.) With the result confirmed with 1:30 left on the clock ABC went to a ABC News Special Report on former NBA player Kobe Bryant his daughter and seven other people’s death in a helicopter crash and 7Mate stayed with this coverage (Live Press Conference with LA County Sheriff conference and live cross report) until ABC’s first ad-break then 7Mate went into NFL Armchair Experts early.
