VIC had footyfeast which is live so they probably delayed that going to in VIC & SA. the others didn’t have that so that’s probably why it was different.

Every market run off its own independent playlist. Each market would have been taking the OB as its source, or possibly a studio control room as a source if the OB feed was being run through a studio control room, but that’s getting a bit too far into the weeds. The point being that there is no “originator station” (except that many regional stations still use a feed of a metro station as their primary programming source, but again drifting off into the weeds), and even if there was, it wouldn’t necessarily have prevented this error.

By the description of what aired, I’d suggest the most likely scenario for what occurred is that a fixed time was been placed on the start of House Of Wellness to assist the playout operators with timing, and not been removed from the affected market(s) playlists when it became clear that the athletics would be running over, so the automation has done what it was told to do and started House Of Wellness. It has then taken an amount of time for the operator(s) to become aware of the problem and to correct it.

An unfortunate error, but not particularly surprising in this day and age where a single operator can be looking after dozens of markets at a time.

Seven welcomes Tom Morris

Award-winning sport broadcaster joins The Agenda Setters, Sunday Afternoon Footy and cricket

The Seven Network today announced award-winning sport broadcaster Tom Morris will join Seven’s AFL and cricket coverage in 2026.

Having earned a reputation as one of the foremost news-breaking sport reporters in Australian media, Morris will join Seven’s AFL coverage on Sunday afternoons, starting with this weekend’s Melbourne v Brisbane Lions clash at the MCG from 2.30pm AEST live and free on Seven, 7mate and 7plus Sport.

Morris will also host Seven’s weekly Wednesday night edition of The Agenda Setters, alongside 7NEWS Chief Football Reporter Mitch Cleary, 7AFL Expert Nick Riewoldt and a rotating fourth guest panellist.

With Seven’s international cricket coverage beginning in August this year, Morris will assume the Chief Cricket Reporter role for the network’s broadcast of the Australia v Bangladesh Series in Darwin and Mackay, from Sunday, 13 August. Morris’ role will also continue for Seven’s Test and Big Bash League coverage for the 2026-27 Summer of Cricket on Seven and 7plus Sport.

Morris said: “Footy and cricket are my two biggest passions, so to have the opportunity to be part of live match coverage across both is something I dreamed of as a kid, and a big reason why I am joining Seven.

“I have loved The Agenda Setters as a viewer – it genuinely sets the tone for the footy conversation each week.

“To now be part of that show and contribute to those discussions alongside such a strong team both on and off camera is incredibly exciting. Mitch Cleary and I have spent plenty of time on opposite sides of the fence, so to be on the same team and working on stories together will be brilliant. I can’t wait to get started,” he said.

Seven’s Head of AFL and Sport Innovation, Gary O’Keeffe, said Morris’ arrival will bolster Seven’s already stellar AFL team.

“Tom has proven himself to be one of the best sport reporters in the country and we cannot wait to welcome him into the 7AFL team this weekend,” he said.

“We’ve had a concentrated focus on integrating news breakers into our coverage over the past two seasons, and Tom only strengthens that effort.

“Joining the boundary team on Sunday afternoons, Tom will ensure viewers get the player insights and answers to the questions that matter most. And on a Wednesday night, he will lead the footy conversation on The Agenda Setters. There’s nobody more informed on the inner workings of the game than the team at The Agenda Setters and Tom only bolsters that expertise,” Mr O’Keeffe said.

Seven’s Head of Cricket, Joel Starcevic, said: “With an incredible year of cricket set to take place on Seven and 7plus Sport, we couldn’t be more excited to add Tom’s cricket nous to the coverage.

“With a two-Test Series against Bangladesh in the Northern Territory and Queensland in August, all before an epic Summer of Cricket, Tom will fit seamlessly into cricket’s number one commentary team and we look forward to hearing his expert commentary and ancillary reporting in our live match broadcast of Test cricket and the Big Bash League.”

Seven will further strengthen its cricket offering this summer, with SEN’s podcast The New Ball, hosted by Morris and fellow cricket reporter Bharat Sundaresan, to be simulcast on 7mate and streamed live on 7plus Sport daily before play of the Australia v New Zealand Test Series, throughout the Summer of Cricket.

Morris is a former Alf Brown recipient, receiving the award for the overall best media performer at the 2023 Australian Football Media Awards for his work breaking the story surrounding Damien Hardwick’s departure from Richmond on SEN.

Glen Boss joins the Seven stable

Legendary jockey joins for Queensland Racing Carnival

The Queensland Racing Carnival is heating up on the Seven Network, with some of Australia’s most-anticipated race days including Ladbrokes Doomben 10,000 Day, Channel 7 Queensland Oaks Day and Ladbrokes Stradbroke Day live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport.

In a coup for fans, racing’s #1 commentary team has been bolstered by the arrival of Australian Racing Hall of Famer, Glen Boss, for Seven’s coverage throughout the carnival.

Growing up in Beaudesert before embarking on an exceptional racing career, “Bossy” is no stranger to Queensland racing and will deliver viewers unrivalled insights during Seven’s coverage of XXXX Doomben Cup Day, Sky Racing Queensland Derby Day, Ladbrokes Stradbroke Day and the Tattersall’s Tiara.

Boss retired from thoroughbred racing in 2021 with 90 Group 1 wins, including three consecutive Melbourne Cups with Makybe Diva, four Cox Plate victories and two Golden Slipper wins.

Boss will join Seven’s expert thoroughbred racing team which includes Emma Freedman, Jason Richardson, Lizzie Jelfs and Katie McDonald, who will bring fans all the action trackside from Doomben and Eagle Farm throughout the Queensland Racing Carnival. Seven will also be showing all the elite level racing in Melbourne and Sydney from Flemington, Randwick, Rosehill and Caulfield.

Boss said he is excited to be joining the Seven stable for the upcoming Carnival:

“Having spent plenty of time with the team over the years, I can’t wait to join Seven’s lineup of racing experts for the 2026 Queensland Racing Carnival.

“The Queensland Racing Carnival is up there with the very best on the Australian racing calendar. The quality of racing and atmosphere at the major race days at Doomben and Eagle Farm are in a league of their own. While Victoria and New South Wales might dominate plenty of the headlines, Queensland knows how to put on a carnival like no other.

Any news about if 7 has the upcoming season of NFL? And if they have local rights to the Melbourne game (I think Netflix has non exclusive rights here)

They have now featured 2 NFL guests on their AFL coverage, if they don’t have the NFL, they sure are trying their best to get it.

They had Red Zone host a couple of months ago & tonight they had the marketing officer of the 49ers. Also a message to channel 7 from a player too

Yes they have most NBC, CBS and Fox national games.

Has there been an official announcement? I think the their announcement last year was only a 1 season extension. So I don’t know if there has been any other announcements regarding the upcoming season

But they are definitely pushing for it with all these appearances from NFL people for the Melbourne game. I don’t think there was any of that with Fox Footy (obviously given they only has AFL)

the same lady who was on 7’s post game was also with Tony Jones on 9News outside the MCG.

Not at this time.

Prestigious Royal Ascot hits Seven

Every race of the carnival live and free this week on 7two and 7plus Sport

Seven’s Horse Racing coverage is set to be bolstered this week with the arrival of world-class horse racing, with every race of Royal Ascot 2026 from tomorrow, Tuesday, 16 June through to Saturday, 20 June live and free on 7two and 7plus Sport.

Held annually at Ascot Racecourse, the famous carnival sees the best horses and jockeys globally compete for over £10 million in prize money, while elite style, fashion and pageantry dominate trackside including appearances from the Royal Family and commencing with the Royal Precession at the start of each day.

Australia is strongly represented at the 2026 carnival, with a formidable group of sprinters including Asfoora, Overpass and Joliestar. The world’s best jockey James McDonald will be riding again in 2026 at the track where he has previously claimed five wins, while Zac Lloyd, Mark Zahra and Josh Parr will also feature throughout various race days.

With racing commencing from 10.30pm AEST nightly, 7plus Sport is the perfect place to catch up on all the action for those that can’t stay up in the early hours of the morning. Replays will also be available on 7plus Sport each morning via the Royal Ascot shelf on the 7plus horse racing page.

7Horse Racing Analyst, Lizzie Jelfs, said she is delighted Australian audiences will be able to watch Royal Ascot live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport, with the iconic meeting remaining one of the highlights of the international racing calendar.

“It’s so exciting to have one of the world’s most prestigious racing carnivals available for fans in Australia to watch live and free on Seven and 7plus this year,” she said.

“Royal Ascot is a major milestone on the international racing calendar, the atmosphere on and off the track is world-class, and I’m particularly excited to see how some of the Australian thoroughbreds go against the world’s best in 2026.

“I will be keeping a close eye on Joliestar, Overpass and Asfoora as the Australian horses competing, as well as top Australian jockeys in James McDonald, Zac Lloyd, Mark Zahra and Josh Parr. It is set to be an amazing week of racing.”

Seven will utilise the international broadcast of ITV Racing for Royal Ascot, with Ed Chamberlin and Francesca Cumani to host, while Jason Weaver, Megan Nicholls and Adele Mulrennan will feature as experts for the 35 races including eight Group 1 contests.

Seven’s horse racing coverage in Australia will continue this Saturday, featuring live coverage from Flemington for VRC Country Race Day, Randwick for Civic Stakes Day and Ipswich for Ipswich Cup Day, as racing’s #1 commentary team brings fans all the action live and free from 12.00pm AEST on Seven, 7two and 7plus Sport.

Oddly the 7two stream on 7+ was running filler packages from Seven’s own horse racing coverage rather than the live Royal Ascot coverage from ITV, missing the first race. I don’t have access to a TV where I am currently to check what’s being broadcast over the air so I’m not sure if it was a streaming issue or a loss of feed for Seven. Either way, the Royal Ascot coverage is on 7+ now following a commercial break.

I see Sky Thoroughbred Central is taking the ITV coverage (as usual) and had the feed during the race unlike 7+, while Sky Racing is taking the Racing TV coverage (as usual). RDC running its usual suite of overnight replays, having lost the Royal Ascot FTA rights to Seven.
