I wonder if Seven will be forced to take the NFL Network feed for the Super Bowl in two weeks’ time. NBC is this year’s broadcaster but I am sure its telecast will include some Winter Olympics content, which can’t be shown on Seven as Nine has the Australian rights to the Games.

She’ll be right, slap a Nine logo over NBCs and we’re fine!

Forced? No. The NBC Super Bowl broadcast may have Olympic promos for NBC’s coverage (in fact it’s almost certain to given Mike Tirico is staying on air from the stadium to host NBC’s Olympic coverage after the match, and then flying out to Italy after his hosting shift ends) but shouldn’t contain anything which non-rights holders face restrictions on.

If NBC will use Olympic vision during the broadcast it will be in consultation with the IOC and NFL. At best, NBC may have a special dispensation from the IOC to run a limited amount of restricted Olympic vision without repercussions for international broadcasters taking the feed. At worst NBC might make a short half time segment an opt-out for international non-rights holders. The IOC are petty and protective of their vision but they also genuflect to NBC’s interests and won’t want to make NBC’s life difficult for the sake of foreign vision rights, while the NFL will want NBC to make things as painless for the international distribution as possible. Don’t forget, NBC’s full broadcast including commercials will be carried around the world on NFL GamePass and the NFL would have a fit if NBC made that difficult.

That said, Seven might choose to take the NFL World Feed if they’re worried about giving free publicity to an event which airs on Nine, but they won’t be forced to air World Feed for Olympic vision reasons, and I’d be a little bit surprised if Seven really cared enough about the Winter Olympics to make that call voluntarily. Summer Olympics sure, but Winter Olympics aren’t really of as much interest in Australia to provoke that level of network protectionism surely?

Would it be possible for 7 to use the NBC feed, then switch to the world feed during any moments of Olympics coverage? Seems like the easiest solution if they don’t want to give free advertising to Nine or run into trouble with the IOC. Unless the NFL forces 7 to use the world feed, then the whole issue is moot.

In October the Rugby League World Cup will be held across Australia, New Zealand and Papua New Guinea. Seven has big plans for its programming as the event dominates the schedule.

“This is taking over our network, like a FIFA Women’s World Cup schedule…. which means Sunday Night Football,” Hall explains.

The month-long event will feature 26 teams from around the world, with 18 men’s, 15 women’s and 20 wheelchair matches.

Have a runthrough over its schedule across three formats. Only a few hours of clash between wheelchairs and men/women on 31 October.

If that’s what they’re committing, I think we could expect main channel’s all-day coverage outside news.

It wouldn’t surprise me if they used the NFL World Feed, as they’ve been using it for all matches except the Thursday Night Football games. I prefer the NBC feed myself.

Pretty sure even last year when they used world feed for majority of the matches, they used the Fox feed. So I’m guessing they will use NBC feed this time.

Also this season there had been some matches that they didn’t use world feed. Rare but there were some

New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks set to face off in Super Bowl LX

Live and free on Seven and 7plus Sport on 9 February

The Seven Network is once again playing host to one of the world’s largest sporting events, as the New England Patriots take on the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl LX.

Seven’s live, free and exclusive coverage kicks off on Monday, 9 February, from 9.00am AEDT on 7mate and 7plus Sport, with a special Super Bowl preview from NFL Tailgate, hosted by the first ever Australian to play in a Super Bowl, Ben Graham, and NFL expert Cam Luke live from Santa Clara, California.

Then, from 10:00am AEDT on Seven, 7mate and 7plus Sport, the Patriots and Seahawks will look to create history and claim the 2026 NFL Championship.

The last time these two teams faced each other in the Super Bowl was in 2015 and it was one of the greatest games in NFL history. The match ended with the famous play of Russell Wilson throwing an interception to Malcolm Buter to clinch the Patriots the win. The Seattle Seahawks are hoping to claim revenge 11 years on and win their second ever Super Bowl in franchise history.

Both teams enter the Super Bowl rematch with no players remaining from the 2015 rosters, with the Seahawks led by stars Sam Darnold and Jaxon Smith-Njigba, while the Patriots feature Drake Maye and Stefon Diggs.

Following an iconic performance in 2025 by Kendrick Lamar, this year’s Apple Music Halftime Show will see GRAMMY® Award-winner Bad Bunny take to the stage in what is set to be an electric performance.

Seven’s play-by-play coverage will be led by commentator Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth, with Melissa Stark and Kaylee Hartung Rinaldi reporting from the sidelines.

Sunrise will have unprecedented access inside Levi’s Stadium with 7NEWS US Correspondent Rob Scott live from 5.30am AEDT.

Seven Network Head of Sport Digital, Kirsty Bradmore, said: “The Super Bowl is one of the world’s great sporting events and Seven is incredibly proud to bring Super Bowl LX to Australian audiences. It reflects our long-standing commitment to delivering the biggest moments in global sport, live and free, to viewers right across the country.

“Having Super Bowl LX on Seven allows us to deliver the event at scale across broadcast, digital and social platforms, ensuring fans can experience the game in more ways than ever before. It’s a moment that brings sport, entertainment and global culture together and we’re proud to be at the centre of it.”

Fans wanting the full NFL experience are in for a treat, starting with the Pro Bowl, the NFL’s annual all-star event live on 7mate and 7plus Sport from 12.00pm AEDT on Wednesday, 4 February.

Then, on Friday, 6 February, at 11.45am AEDT on 7mate, NFL: Road To The Super Bowl will look back on the season that was, before the game’s best players are recognised live at the NFL Honors, hosted by award-winning actor Jon Hamm from 1.00pm AEDT.

Following a huge Friday of NFL coverage, NFL Tailgate will be live with its prime time special from San Francisco at 10.50pm AEDT, on 7mate and 7plus Sport on Friday, 6 February.

NFL fans can also get a further fix of all the action by re-living the sport’s most iconic Super Bowl clashes on 7plus Sport.

Confirmation that Seven will take the NBC coverage. They might as well air the 5-hour pregame show too, even if 7mate.

Also, Kaylee’s last name is Hartung. Where the hell does Rinaldi come from?

Is it? As far as i know, the NFL world feed uses the same callers as the US feed, just different graphics and no local advertising on screen.

Think the world feed has its own callers for the Super Bowl (Ian Eagle and Charles Davis did it last year).

Yeah that’s right - they’ve had their own callers.

They’ve cut and pasted from last year - Tom Rinaldi was on sideline last year for Fox.

If that’s the case, then I’m glad 7 got the NBC feed.

Also, I shouldn’t be surprised the NFL had its own callers for the big game. If ESPN Australia can do thier own call, why can’t the league?

Well, there’s arguments for and against.
