End of 2027.
I think the only overseas rights other than the Ashes in England that would be valuable for 7 or indeed any FTA broadcaster are the ICC rights (including the WTC final), but those are with Amazon till 2027. I donât think there would be much appetite from casual sports fans to watch away cricket series including India and South Africa even if those tours appear attractive on paper. The ratings for the Sri Lanka Tests earlier this year were somewhat disappointing despite being scheduled during prime time.
I think they averaged around 650-750k during the prime time sessions. I think the highest for a session was around 950k.
But Fox has long term rights with the big countries like IND & SA etc so itâs unlikely for anyone to get them. 7 tried to get SL & WI because Fox usually waited until the last moment to get the rights as a per Australia series.
What Nine were very smart in doing also, was going after the other tennis Slams. Not only as adjunctive to their domestic summer, but keeps that flavour going for wwos/Stan Sport throughout a calendar year.
Something no doubt Seven want to replicate with longer form cricket.
Itâs more Stan than Nine I suppose, but the same could be said of soccer and rugby too. Feels like a smart strategy to me.
Also, thankyou for introducing the word âadjunctiveâ into my vocab! ![]()

Magic Millions glitters on the Gold Coast
Thoroughbred racingâs richest week returns to Seven
The Seven Network will welcome back the iconic TAB Gold Coast Magic Millions Carnival across the next two weekends, with all the thoroughbred racing action and trackside glamour from the picturesque Gold Coast Turf Club live and free on Seven, 7two and 7plus Sport.
Sevenâs coverage of the carnival kicks off tomorrow, with afternoon racing from Flemington and Wyong at 12.00pm AEDT on Seven and 7plus Sport, before heading to the Gold Coast for racing under lights at the 2026 Magic Millions Gold Raceday from 7.00pm AEDT.
Then, on Saturday 17 January, Sevenâs team will deliver every nail-biting moment of Queenslandâs biggest day on turf, the TAB Magic Millions Raceday at Aquis Park from 1.00pm AEDT on Seven and 7plus Sport.
Sevenâs Magic Millions Carnival coverage will be led by thoroughbred racingâs #1 commentary team, including Emma Freedman, Hamish McLachlan, Jason Richardson, Lizzie Jelfs, Katelyn McDonald and Daniel MacPherson, while Kate Waterhouse will cover all the trackside fashion, glamour and big names in attendance.
In an exciting announcement for racing fans, global racing voice Britney Eurton will also join Sevenâs coverage of the carnival in her first visit to Australia.
The twilight meeting takes place the week before the penultimate race day, with more than $7.3 million in prizemoney and features the running of the $3 million TAB Magic Millions Sunlight (3YO) slot race under lights, with Grafterburners, Akaysha & Ice Kool some of the top fancies.
The meeting also showcases the $1.5 million Magic Millions QTIS Open and the $500,000 Magic Millions The Wave over a 10-race card, of which six races are exclusively for horses nominated to the Magic Millions Race Series.
The TAB Magic Millions Raceday at Aquis Park on Saturday 17 January, features over $13.25 million in prizemoney across 10 races. The program is highlighted by two feature events: the $3 million Magic Millions 2YO Classic and the and the $3 million Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas.
Last year won by OâOle, the 2YO Classic includes an impressive field this year led by the Bjorn Baker-trained Warwoventhe, while Zip Lock, Knightsbridge and the Ciaron Maher pair of Tornado Valley and Unit Five are also some of the other top chances to cross the post first.
The $3 million Gold Coast Magic Millions 3YO Guineas is always an exciting spectacle, with the top hope being dominant Vo Rogue Stakes winner Ninja carrying the hopes of thousands of micro share owners.
Following the TAB Magic Millions Raceday, sport fans can follow all the action of the Santos Tour Down Under, NFL Playoffs and the Big Bash League on Seven and 7plus Sport, in what promises to be a jam-packed summer of sport on Seven.

God those graphics are looking real dated now, especially compared to some of the other graphics used across their sporting coverage.
The thing that has always annoyed me a bit though is why they would have the race time in the top corner, but then take it down just before the finish. Surely if you are going to show it, you would show the actual finishing time.
Probably because itâs an unofficial time?
