This campaign is a hilarious joke.
9Now and 10Play have had their sports streaming for years now.
Why are 7 trying to make it seem like some new revolutionary movement? lol

The ad is a little OTT, however, after years of blackouts on 7+ for AFL / Cricket (arguably their own doing), forgive them for trying to educate people that they can now be streamed for free.
Why are they calling it 7plus sports? Making it seem like a new app etc when itâs just sports on 7plus
Yeah, but 7plus seems to be really pushing ahead with it now. 10play havenât got that much now. And 9now has some but not as much as 7plus. SBS OnDemand is the only other FTA platform that has a lot of live content.
Is it 7+ or 7plus?
Itâs written on screen as 7+ but in articles as 7plus.
Surely if youâre spelling it out, it should then be Seven Plus.
The logo is a + symbol after it was updated and rebranded from Plus7, but believe the networks preference is 7plus when written.
Itâs just a style thing, I donât think either is necessarily right or wrong and can probably be used interchangeably.
I think itâll have a bigger impact than people think, no wonder Seven are making a big fuss, if veteran executive Renee Quirkâs comments published on TVT last week are anything to go by.
With the cost of living and svod especially Foxtel fees just getting higher and higher, itâll be an obvious for AFL and cricket live streaming viewers or those who need to tune-in via mobile if out and about. Something many still no doubt try and do before getting the âno rightsâ message and filler streaming showsâ brick wall on 7Plus.
Expect bigger marketing as months go on, especially prior to the 2025 AFL season.
Iâd be angry and worried if I were Foxtel, namely Kayo, as TVCynic noted the other day, just look at those AFL live streaming ratings on VOZ VPM (and almost all would be Kayo vs Foxtel Now / GO). Game on
NB/ Yes, Foxtel get some chocolates though, with their new âSuper Saturdayâ during the first number of AFL rounds being totally exclusive in Victoria. Plus own commentators to all games (i.e. Sevenâs productions too) and graphics now.
I think 7 simply left their run too late re: getting streaming rights for the AFL.
Cricket you could argue thereâs not much difference bar ads and commentators, except the lack of ODIs.
But people have been paying to stream every AFL game live bar the Grand Final since 2013/14 (Foxtel Play and/or AFL Live Pass). I think itâs been around long enough that people have accepted it as the norm and would still justify getting Kayo rather than only having access to select matches, even if itâs for free.
Donât underestimate the power of this point though. Never used to be available, now it is. Thereâll be people utilising it.
Oh sure, there will be people who have stubbornly refused, or not cared enough, to pay for AFL streaming. That I think will be the main demo for AFL on 7+.
Those whoâve already experienced it? Might be harder to give up, especially in Victoria where thereâs no guarantee your teams gets on fta every week.
Especially outside of Victoria, where viewers will be able to stream their local teams games for free (even though selected matches will be on delay).
Iâm surprised Foxtel didnât have more power with this 20+ year clause for the new deal, apparently ex-CEO Gil was very firm, they call it the âflip flopâ rule or something. Thatâs how important the FTA exposure is to them outside Vic, especially Nsw and Qld.
AFL also had pressure from state governmentâs in SA, and possibly WA as well.
They did have a on screen watermark that was 7+ but I think they have changed it to 7Plus?
Reverse - started out as 7Plus watermark, but changed to 7+ during the 2020 refresh.
New but brief 7 Sport intro for todayâs AFLW and VFL coverage. It starts with a list of sports covered by Seven and finishes with the slogan âitâs free for allâ above the 7+ Sport logo.
Is there a vid up of it? Screenshots giving me NFL on CBS intro vibes but red.
Why are they calling it 7+ sports like itâs a seperate app or something. Just having 7+ should be enough as viewers would know itâs on 7+
My grandparents have already asked my mum what 7+Sports is.
