Been monitoring Seven Darwin and DDT tonight - oh dear.

These stations have basically no local advertisers in the prime time slot currently. Only some national advertisers but mostly infomercials in some breaks and the rest are just tons of Seven promos.

With the current state of these stations, I’m not sure on how they can continue running long term. The funding boost for regional news may help but Seven only provides a few noodle updates and DDT don’t even bother.

Is it expensive for local businesses to advertise on Seven Darwin and DDT in primetime?

Seven is much more expensive than 10 Darwin.

Prime-time ads are shown between 5:30pm and 8:30-9:00pm up here.

Infomercials are paid spots?

I know? But that isn’t really local advertising and isn’t that profitable. It’s a national deal with SCA.

They still use the old version of the billboards:

Weird to see the old 7mate logo on Central tonight. They’re also using a very generic looking PRG.

the way 7mate should be!

Old logo being used again. It looks like it only shows up after Fox Footy breakaways where SCA can’t sync up with Melbourne after the game. Interesting

Not to Mention the Studio where Nightly News is Made each night???

What?

I think he was responding to this comment in the SC Regional News discussion:

And I think he meant it’s a shame they don’t mention the studio location in the main opener (a.k.a. “LIVE from our [X] studios…”), like some of the metro News bulletins do.

They technically do. “From our 7 Spencer Gulf studios, your Nightly News with [presenter] begins now.” They can get away with saying it that way because it technically is coming from the studios where 7 Spencer Gulf is based… they just happen to be located in Hobart.

OR just go “This is Central Nightly News with JOHN HUNT” (or whoever the presenter is).

They changed the voice in that announcement too. Ruby is different to John.
