Does Prime7 still transmit into Cobar?
Yes it does.
Ah good. So at least they have some local content and some commercial HD too.

what news are they getting ? sydney or adelaide?
7 Broken Hill relays Seven News Adelaide at 6pm, whilst Nightly News > 7 Spencer Gulf airs at 7pm weeknights on 7TWO.
ah cool and thank you . so im guessing 9sca would relay 9 news adelaide?
Yes.
The Broken Hill stations are part of the Spencer Gulf license. They receive the metro Adelaide news on all three main channels and SCAās Spencer Gulf Nightly News on Seven.
Broken Hill has always had more in common with Adelaide and SA than Sydney and NSW. Itās a much shorter distance to Adelaide than Sydney by under half, and its first railway connection was to Adelaide in 1889 (Sydney in 1927) where it was a break of gauge between the two states. The cultural divide continues to this day and they even use Central Standard Time instead of AEST. Itās almost like an exclave of South Australia.
It should be noted that Broken Hill originally received TCN9 Sydney as SCA were unable to negotiate an affiliation deal with WIN-owned NWS9 Adelaide at the time.
They also currently receive ABC NSW I believe.
Yes, Adelaide news on all 3 main channels.
Delayed to local time?
No, as Iāve just discovered, itās on Eastern Time, so Gardening Australia was already on at 7pm Central time when I switched over then. So no Juanita for me tonight (or maybe it was Jeremy).
Thatās interesting. Iāve asked about this before (in the ABC thread) and was told Broken Hill received ABC from Adelaide. It does seem to make more sense for them to get the NSW/Sydney version though.
I wonder what happens when there are local elections in NSW - is Broken Hill included? If so, they would receive coverage on ABC but not on the commercial channels - unless GTS/BKN opt out or cover them in local news?
Yes itās interesting in that 999 ABC Local Radio Broken Hill aligns with Adelaide for radio content, but not for TV. No consistency there.
And yes, Iād imagine thereād be local election coverage on the local 7 News Spencer Gulfā¦ so that, ABC Broken Hill radio breakfast and the ABC NSW 7pm TV news would be how locals can stay informed on NSW election issues.
And of course, 2BH! With its very NSW centric programming!
And people say old man Bruce G (& co.) is difficult to deal with.
Iād have thought if he really believed his āmedia empireā was equal to the major networks, heād have welcomed an affiliation request.
It used to, given the timezone and closer proximity to SA and isolation from the east of NSW.
Maybe itās since changed
Anyone having issues with the main channel constantly pausing for 5 seconds every 2-3 minutes tonight? Hopefully itās not an NPC wide thing.
Itās put the schedule behind by a few minutes in Darwin.
It was discussed in the BB thread. Happening in Melbourne too.
