Seven (Southern Cross)

7mate definitely launched on 60 in Tassie, replacing a temporary HD channel set up for the Delhi Commonwealth Games. Maybe they pushed 7mate to 63 when they launched Racing.com? Although I’m not sure why they’d use 63 in Tassie but 60/70 everywhere else. Did you guys ever have an SCTV simulcast on 60 or 61 prior to 7HD’s launch?

we had a SCTV simulcast on 66 in 2009

Because it’s still a HD channel via WIN

WIN only territory:

20 ABC HD
30 SBS HD
50 GEM HD
60 7MATE HD
80 WIN HD

Well if we’re going with original numbering schemes being the reason, WIN only territory is also “meant” to use 55, 66 and 88 for the first SD multi-channel. But seeing as they broke that rule with 7TWO, why not relocate 7mate to 63 as well?

Don’t recall a simulcast for a long time on 61, I think that only came once the HD service launched. 7mate was definitely available on 60 for quite a while and the 60 SCTV simulcast was their upscaled HD channel once that launched.

Southern Cross has axed noodle updates in areas with no bulletin.

Haven’t seen any updates for about 1-2 months now, assuming they are axed/not bothered anymore? They’ve been showing shortened versions of “The Buzz in the Top End” across all 3 channels where the updates used to be.

Facebook reveals this has been going like this since July. And it’s a 2-minute weekly program

Yes. I noticed they show full versions during the day, and then display a cut down version to 1-2 stories spanning over a minute.

It’s nicely produced, but I feel like it doesn’t have much of a benefit towards the community, which can easily find the information scrolling on Facebook/Google.

When was it shown? I honestly haven’t seen it for ages.

Must’ve not been watching Seven much to not have seen it in the last 1-2 months!

I don’t know what times it went to air on 7 Darwin. It lead with a story about a drink driver blowing five times over the limit, which broke today, so it’s definitely not an old recording or error on VAST. I doubt they’ve just forgotten to add it to the channel for 2 months.

Usually I watch Seven 7:30pm onwards and I haven’t seen an update for quite some time in that slot. The only logical reason to stop showing it is an increase of demand for advertising in that slot or maybe AFL coverage towards the finals?.

Thanks for the caps though.

With the programs they’re showing, that is certainly understandable!

They do 5 Darwin updates each workday. Alexandra Sykes has mentioned this on her twitter.

I wish SCA would review what they are bringing to viewers in the Northern Territory. They’ve introduced another weird segment called “Katherine at the Cross Roads” (an area close to Darwin) and “The Buzz in the Top End” brought in a few months back.

I feel like they could allocate the resources from these into having a few VJ journalists in both Darwin and Central to bring some sort of Southern Cross News presence into the NT. It doesn’t have to come from Darwin either. I don’t think people will notice if the 7 Nightly News set is used.

They could atleast add a fun detailed caption to their videos when they post them on Facebook too. https://www.facebook.com/789109811171149/posts/2412998742115573/
