Seven (Southern Cross)

I think i prefer that there are no dual affiliations.

So no more “why don’t we get this show”…“we miss out” type whinging.

The SCTV watermark on SCTV Central - North

It used to be on the right-hand side back in the day.

What does MSCM mean?

Much better (out of the way)

Macquarie Southern Cross Media, which was the name after Macquarie Regional Radioworks & Southern Cross Broadcasting merged in 2007.

Back then it was also a dirty Seven feed, branded as Seven. So the watermark represented the network carrying the channel, not the channel itself.

Better than it used to be.
Last time I saw it, it was solid text rather than a watermark and was on the top right.

For how long were they known as MSCM?

It’s interesting hearing the Tasmanian voice over voice doing the NT ones. I wonder how much of that there is and whether the Territorians realise there’s quite a Tasmanian element to them. @EyewitnessTV do you know who this voice is?

That guy does the sponsor board voiceover for SCA Nine in Queensland too. Even for local businesses in Townsville on 9 Townsville. I doubt he’s Tasmanian.

Probably based in Canberra doing all the voiceovers for all SCA channels.

Yeah ok, probably is Canberra then.

@Nick A couple of years I think.

I think I posted a cap on here a while ago, but SC used to also use the ‘SCTV’ watermark part on the AFL coverage nationally when Seven first started sending a clean feed to them in 2010-11 I think. Something like this ‘SCTV | Live’ where Seven had theirs as ‘7 | Live’ at the right-hand bottom of the screen.

Sorry, I’m not sure who’s voice this belongs to. But he has been doing the majority of the voiceover work for SCA for more than a decade though as I’ve got recordings of promos etc dating from 2005 with him on them. I know the local promos are done by either Peter Murphy or Ken Saville though.

To go with the ‘Final Series’ clip above, a billboard of the regular season one:

Never got around to getting a proper cap of this but this screenshot I took gives you a general idea:

Just noticed that SCA with their radio stations Hit 100.9 and Triple M 107.3 are doing an Open Day with studio tours in Hobart tomorrow (today I guess!) from 11am. Shame I won’t be in town for this this weekend:

Bugger, our work is moving office today, I’d jump in the car and check it out otherwise. Nothing like a spontaneous 6 hours in the car with a toddler and 4 month old!

Interesting scenario on the SCTV Central (North) service this evening.

Normally they take a feed of 7 Brisbane (including 7 News Brisbane), with the exception being the AFL broadcast is shown on the main channel (i.e. 7 Melbourne feed).

Tonight, 7 News Brisbane is a 1-hour bulletin shown 6pm-7pm, while other states have a 30-minute bulletin at 7pm-7:30pm (EST).

I noticed in the TV guide that SCTV Central North is showing a 30-minute 7 News Bulletin at 7pm tonight - so I can only assume they will be showing a different version of 7 News tonight than the normal Brisbane bulletin shown?

That seems logical and my guess is it will be the Melbourne bulletin, assuming the Port v Eagles AFL game is on SC North as well.
