How many sub markets are used for the main GWN7 feeds?

Three. GSW sub-market covers Greater Bunbury only. GAW covers Albany, Wheatbelt and Kalgoorlie/Esperance. GNW is everywhere else.

7mate is also sub-market specific with a HD feed for GSW and GAW, and another SD-only feed for GNW. 7TWO is a statewide single feed.

Prime said some television sets may need retuning or upgrading to access 7Flix, which will be available from September 3.

PRIME7 is bringing 7flix to its regional viewers on Sunday 3 September, 2017.

7flix will be broadcast into the viewing areas of regional Northern NSW, Gold Coast, Southern NSW, ACT, and Victoria on Channel 66.

What is Channel 66?
Channel 66 is a free-to-air channel broadcast using MPEG4 technology (version 10). The dedicated movie and entertainment channel is a feel-good mix of popular home grown and international shows, children’s programs and all time movie greats.

When does Channel 66 begin broadcasting?
Sunday 3 September, 2017.

Will existing PRIME7 channels be affected?
No, viewers will continue to receive existing entertainment channels PRIME7, 7TWO, 7mate, Racing.com and ishopTV, in addition to 7flix. Channel 66 should automatically appear in the channel list of most TVs. If not, then the first thing to do is to re-tune your TV.

How can I tell if my TV is MPEG4 (version 10) compatible?
All major recognised brands of televisions, set top boxes and Personal Video Recorders (PVR’s) purchased since 2009, including any devices bearing the Freeview logo, will have this capability, but those bought prior to 2009 may not support MPEG4 (version 10). Some old receivers which have not been compatible during the introduction of the MPEG4 (version 10) service have included:-

TVs that do not support MPEG4 (version 10) are most likely to demonstrate the following behaviour:
Channel 66 (7flix) appears in the channel list, but the picture is black and the sound may or may not be heard.

I think my TV is MPEG4 (version 10) compatible but I can’t find Channel 66. Why?
Channel 66 should automatically appear in the channel list of most TVs. If not, then the first thing to do is to re-tune your TV. Most TVs have an option to automatically re-scan channels within the TV menu. In many cases, Channel 66 will appear after completing this process. Some televisions may require reset to factory defaults or a software upgrade. If you’re unsure how to re-scan channels you should refer to your TV manual or contact the manufacturer of your TV.

Can I still watch Channel 66 if my TV is not MPEG4 (version 10) compatible?
No, not without purchasing a set top box which supports MPEG4 version 10. Set top boxes range in price from approximately $25 to $50, are relatively simply to connect to your TV and are available where most TVs are sold. The vast majority of set top boxes support MPEG4 (version 10), however you should seek confirmation from sales staff when purchasing.

I have a set-top box but I still can’t get Channel 66?
Some of the very early set top boxes provided by the Federal Government as part of the Household Assistance Scheme during Australia’s switch to digital TV may not be MPEG4, or MPEG 4 (version 10) compatible.

Do I need to get a set top box to watch Channel 66 if I already have a Personal Video Recorder (PVR)?
You can use a PVR in a similar fashion to a set top box to make your television MPEG4 (version 10) compatible if you cannot immediately see Channel 66. If you’re unsure how, you should refer to your PVR manual or contact the manufacturer of your PVR.

I’m curious as to why they’re making viewers wait another month until it actually goes to air - it’s not like they haven’t had any time to prepare.

Prime7 is already broadcasting ‘7flix’ (no region name) on LCN 66 with a placeholder slide. Surely it wouldn’t take much extra to just flick the switch to the metro dirty feed from Seven, similar to how they did with ‘7TWO on Prime’ when it initially launched? They could then switch to localised ads whenever they’re ready.

Prime7’s 7TWO & 7mate, from what I understand through my limited viewing (I can get Wollongong channels at home), are sub-market specific, with most of its local advertising being relevant to a sub-market of where I’m viewing the channels from. However, they do throw in some local ads from other sub-markets within an aggregate market (eg. elsewhere from within Southern NSW/ACT such as Canberra, Central West & Riverina) to fill the ad slots.
