Not sure if this makes any sense to the discussion.
But could it be something to do with SCA’s own playout?
9HD in SC’s 9 markets is entirely SD during the ad breaks and any other time they’re running things themselves, but the dirty feed from 9 is HD.
Could the fact that they’re receiving a clean feed from 7 and playing it out as their own product (rather than a direct dirty feed like 9), have something to do with it?
Being clean or dirty makes very little difference in playout. From a playout perspective the feed is the same - one just had ads and logos instead of no logos and black slots where ads should go.
Obviously a bit more complex, but the ads being SD is to do with the playing out recorded files. The same as how prerecorded segments on the Project used to be in SD while live parts were HD.
Noticed on 7TWO in Albany WA that we’re receiving Geraldton and NorthWest WA TV commercials. Is this new? I thought GWN’s 7TWO and 7mate program were split into North and South feeds.
Does Maccas in Broome have market-specific menu items or something? (similar to how KFC in QLD has a slightly different menu to the rest of the country)
Realistically, a company like McDonalds with hundreds of stores around Australia would have all their media ads (including any slightly localised variants there may be) produced by a single ad agency these days. It would be a similar deal for other companies with such a large national presence like the big two supermarket chains, etc.
I can’t imagine there being a TV ad specifically for the McDonalds restaurant in Broome (local independent takeaway food shops, yes but not Maccas!), but that’s just a wild guess!
Interesting enough, this was the same case with me up until last week, when Macca’s Orange & Bathurst (same franchisee) ran an advertisement about them being part of the local community
