TV is so homogenised these days, that it’s nice to see these little local differences between the regions - I hope they keep the mascots too

Well looks like they’re still hiring new people to do this.
Lol I remember lining up an interview with Prime for one of these jobs in 2019 but even then it seemed like a surefire path to the unemployment line in a couple of years so I found a different career trajectory instead.

What’s the career trajectory for someone in a role like this? Would there be good room to move up or would they be doing data entry for a long time?

There is no career trajectory basically, you might progress to some kind of supervisor role if you’re lucky but that’s it.
Not to mention the fact that regional TV (and employment therein) always feels like it’s getting smaller, not bigger.
There is a reason why Prime is constantly running recruitment for this job. High turnover and a perpetual lack of people willing to do it for $45,000 per year (interesting to me is the fact that their pay basically hasn’t gone up in five years)
That being said, I’ve met other people around in the public service and other places etc. in Canberra who got their start at Prime and then moved onto other better paying jobs. So it can be a good stepping stone for people (it was for me).

Fair enough, thanks for the insight.
TV is still an industry I’d be interested to work in, but I’m not sure what sort of appetite there is for my skills (IT/records management). I’m always interested in a foot in to the industry if the right opportunity opens up.

I know at SCA (which is a big company despite TV being a small part) they actively do need a lot more people with IT background at the corporate level
I love TV and would work for Prime/SCA if there was more scope to make some kind of career out of it (but alas)

TV Man, TV Jr. and Mate Dog still pop up in Seven branding every so often. “Seven as a business” may still see some value in keeping Prime Possum and Doopa Dog around.

Hey guys. Have noticed some strange things about Prime. I have noticed a seven branded sponsor billboard that has been on air since January 1.
It has always had Wallet wizard as the sponsor.
Does anyone noticed this or something different.
I have noticed both on the Prime7 website and on my TV guide that Prime7 news is going to air on June 6th, at least for the north coast.
I noticed that the TV guide says TBA for the time slots of June 6th at 7:30, which I’m sure it is big brother, and 7:00 pm June 5th.
Finally, Saturday’s horse racing and AFL has moved to the main channel.
Can someone explain this.
May take some time for title name to transfer across. The TBAs would be what Seven have for those timeslots for the moment. The Horse Racing and AFL follows the Seven capital city schedule.
Can’t explain the Wallet Wizard program sponsor card, although have one or two theories.

I guess it comes down to capacity at ATN to take on the bulletins as they are. I guess they could do an NBN style bulletin like 9 Regional. They’ve just closed Martin Place, so things might be a bit cramped at Everleigh. But they can always find a broom cupboard I guess.
But as the No1 network, I would hope they see the value in some decentralisation. QLD is a good example, they don’t really need a GC studio, but they do have one.

Well technically they don’t but Nine will start running promos saying “The only local news bulletin which has presenters right here on the Gold Coast” or along those lines.
Prime7 should be able to squeeze in a couple of desks, studio and control room at Everleigh. Does anyone know if they utilise both studios in Canberra for News/Weather anymore?
They’ve closed the Surfers Paradise studios? 7 is still saying ‘live from the Gold Coast’ on their opener.

Didn’t see one GWN7 branded promo or ident last night. Also saw SWM style sponsors on all 3 channels for Wallet Wizard as other members have reported. Plenty of 7+ promos too.

Watching Front Bar tonight on Prime Victoria and the picture quality is terrible. Even on the HD channel.
