Seven On-Air Presentation

God damn. That logo breaks like 1000 design Rules.

7mate used to have a personality. A brand. This looks like a cheap home wares brand at mitre 10 as someone said

How was this approved?

Not in-house, it’s been done by Hulsbosch as reported in The Australian on Monday.

How embarrassing for them then, not sure I’d be wanting to put my name to what’s been delivered.

Looking at their website, it’s no wonder they were involved since it appears they were also responsible for the rebrand of APN Outdoor while Warburton was in charge - and Supercars during his tenure.

The old logo was disgusting. This one is better.

I would have preferred a less stretched out font.

Original logo was gross and even cheaper looking, it looked like a free front. This is still ugly but at least matches their ugly GFX.

That is surprising. Hulsbosch are a reputable company and do some great work.

My theory is 7 and Hulsbosch wanted to do something bigger, including a new Network Logo, but the stations financial position resulted in this.

Possibly but as stated above, James Warburton/Charlotte Valente (Head of Marketing) had Hulsbosch to the rebrand APN Outdoor (which also wasn’t a dramatic rebrand) and Supercars.

This has cost $300k but if the logo had been changed it would have been a lot more to change over signage, marketing collateral, corporate clothing etc. so I would imagine the brief was just to reimagine the on-air look rather than everything.

Yeah I don’t imagine they would’ve thought about changing the iconic red 7 logo, IMO there is nothing wrong with it - they would just be wise to freshen their presentation up by using the white version a little more where appropriate.

The channel’s personality is still there (as highlighted by both the promo Nicholas linked to & the graphics AustralianAerial posted). It’s just not reflected anymore in either the on-air presentation (which is fine considering Seven is rolling-out a ‘uniform’ look) or the logo which just looks boring

I actually like the new logo, lol.

How on earth has this cost $300k. Where are you getting that from? I oversee TV branding and graphics for a living and approve budgets. Th there is no way this has cost $300k

It’s essentially some new graphics. There is no branding here

The article in The Australian on Monday said it was costing $300k.

What was wrong with the old 7Mate logo? This one is disgustingly pathetic.

How many things are wrong with this graphic :face_vomiting:

It’s just impossible. Perhaps that is some sort of on-going fee on contract for multiple years. What we’ve seen on Air would cost nowhere near that. Perhaps more like the 50-100 range

That said 50-100 should get you world class graphics and branding. A complete brand image overhaul and unmistakable brilliant graphics.

This is some really lackluster work. They’ve paid a fortune and got real crap.

Holy crap. That is actually disgusting.

And the “Now” text is using the colour of the old logo???

What on earth?! Why is the text squished?! Makes no sense

I do prefer the darker shade of blue though. Everything else… Ugh :face_vomiting:
