Modified tonight to a phrase that makes even less sense.
Home and Away joining AFL and Idol.
Australian Idol proudly sponsored by Home and Away. Similar to sponsorships seen where 10 Streaming has sponsored a 10 program that have been commented on.
another sign advertising is drying up ![]()
Promo - initially looks like it is for main channel 7:45 PM Saturday with the usual 7 and 7+ logos but in the final slide it turns out to be 7+ only.
Uses the usual 12 hour time till the end then the ender shows the start time in 24 hour time? Odd.
New lineup promo airing with a very ordinary sounding cover of Mr Brightside. Included shows like Australian Idol, SAS, Home & Away, Farmer Wants A Wife, AFL and the Commonwealth Games, with the endtag âAll New!â
It wasnât very inspiring IMO, very similar to what we have seen from Seven in the past.
A post was merged into an existing topic: My Reno Rules
Whatâs with their obsession of cover songs on promos? Are they not wanting to pay the royalties to use originals or something? They are always crap.
I think itâs probably more about giving little known artists a bit more exposure. I think the arrangement for most TV stations is they pay a generic amount that covers most songs that goes to the royality company to get distributed. In most cases they may not pay per song for that it would be similar to radio and keep a log of what songs were played and the percentage of the song that would be played to assist with the payout. If it is packaged into a show produced by Seven ie Home and Away they probably would pay per song as that goes worldwide not just within Australia.
Iâm not sure 7 cares about that.
It would be purely cost driven.
I would say the music labels ie Sony, Warner music etc would also pay money to Seven as its good exposure for the artist so in the end Seven probably make money out of it.
When itâs a cover of a well known song it would be purely down to cost but yes, those things do happen with up and coming artists and originals.
I donât think cost has as much to do with it. If you look at the songs that they play on a regular basis during Sunrise and The Morning Show they regularly play sections of songs and if it was prohititedly expensive they would not do that. Promos I would say would probably be included in the same royalty arrangement
Compare that to YouTube they donât. Iâm a regular watcher of Linus Tech Tips and if they are reviewing headphones they would use simulated music or royalty free music as the cost for playing a song from say Ed Sheeran would be thousands of dollars. Sunrise would play the song without issue they wouldnât if it was thousands of dollars just to play 30 seconds of it on the show. They have an arrangement probably similar to a radio station where for a flat rate they can use songs in broadcasting during their regular programming and in promotional material all for that fixed cost. It wonât cost them extra is what I am getting at.
Theyâre not. Sync license v cue sheet usage.
Itâs completely different to have cue sheet ârightsâ or usage vs applying it to a promo.
It will.
Mr Brightside for the network promo is such a lazy and uninspired choice. Great song but itâs been overplayed to death for years.
I get what you mean.. but I think given the current environment and uncertainty in the world, Seven is focusing on their positive programming and positioning as the network you can rely on to make you feel good.
I also think the new management team from radio land are seeking to put their mark on the network.
A song about intense sexual jealousy and bitter heartbreak is meant to make me feel good about Sevenâs upcoming schedule?
Correct. The key phrase being Mr Brightside. Most viewers donât know or care what the song is about.
