And Rick said Goodnight tonight
@aarontvcentral and @Travis last night after Rick said goodnight
Seems Channel 7 are now starting to shift more towards streaming, with their latest promos for The Hunting Party and St Denis Medical heavily promoting 7plus as the main source for these shows, all while trying to bury the scheduled time for the broadcast of these shows on terrestrial TV.
Is this the beginning of the end for normal FTA TV as we know it?
Pretty much. Looks like Channel Seven are starting to develop a Stream First strategy. I reckon itâll be a matter of time until the likes of Home and Away is dropped first thing in the morning onto 7plus before broadcast that same night.
I remember reading somewhere that ITV in the UK are doing a streaming first approach too.
Targeted advertising, and the stats they must be getting on 7plus would be a goldmine.
I didnât realise Seven had stopped using ânext upâ in their promos? Latest Aus Idol one during network 7pm programs just has ânextâ, like theyâd previously used prior to the mid-2020 presentation relaunch and other networks still use. Yet a 7flix one, albeit very old, still has ânext upâ.
Good it was stupid to begin with and sounded American which we are not
I notice they also just say âon 7â on many promos now. Theyâve dropped âand 7 plusâ even though the logo is still used.
Which is what they should be doing. Itâs not 2010 when not many people know it exists.
Do 9 and 10 reference 9Now and 10Play?
Channel Nine still do. Not sure about Ten.
Bit of an odd move to make though considering most would consider Seven to be the linear channel, the whole point of advertising the catch-ups is to drive audience growth on those services. If they find that slows over coming months, they will have no reason not to know why.
10 are slowly dropping it too.
I believe this was mentioned above, but Seven are heavily promoting 7+ for their international shows like Ludwig. 7+ is really prominent while the terrestrial airdate is displayed at the bottom. Probably makes sense in this day and age really.
So they are still promoting 7+ but in different ways.
I think theyâre talking about the standard network promos (e.g.) Chase, H&A, BH&G, Idol, movies, etc. Which would always have a 7 / 7+ and verbally âon Seven and Seven Plusâ. With the bvod platform now being gradually dropped from those.
Qwerty is referring to the separate 7Plus promos, which theyâve also always done and continue to do so heavily I might add, including for older library content.
Itâs back I thought they got rid of that!
Awful! Cost cutting?
