From what I recall, the decision to move BH&G from its Tuesday night slot to a Saturday night slot backfired and the ratings suffered, as was the case across most of the network in 2004.
I would like to think BH&G moved to Friday nights the following year, before being moved forward to start at 7:00pm on the same day circa 2012-13.

When it moved to Friday nights it was a success. Put an end to Burkes Backyard that dominated the Friday night time slot for decades.
Burke’s Backyard (which had aired on Friday nights on Nine before the footy) ended in November 2004. That’s when Seven pounced and moved BH&G to the timeslot.
