Seven News (Regional Qld)

How the end of the bulletins work in double header markets?

Don’t worry…watched online. Lol. Livios next…no hes not.

In double-presenter regions, it was revealed that Sunshine Coast reporter (and Jo’s fill-in presenter) Katie Toney leaves 7QLD. From 28:42 of the video, the recorded one-take-fits-all closer extended a bit for this occasion.

First time watching Saturday night tv free to air in a very long time, news updates coming from Brisbane and ads for the 6pm Brisbane news on 7 Sunshine Coast.

Yep I believe that’s been the case for quite a while as Seven’s local news doesn’t run during the weekend.

Would’ve thought that’s what Seven Queensland have always done on the weekends…

Presumably in the past they’d have overlaid the endcard of Brisbane updates with a ‘weeknights at 6:30’ variant in local news areas?

BTQ produces separate updates for STQ on Sunday nights using the ‘Weeknights at 6.30’ strap.

I’ve lived in Australia nearly 21 years and Rob has been presenting 7 Local News during that time and well before … wonder when he will retire.

He’ll do it for as long as he’s happy to do it.

It was a rare double wink closer tonight. I wonder who the extra wink was for. It was preceded by a point and eyebrow lift - the classic combo.

He’s certainly got some decent pull.

Looking at the weekday ratings from the week before last, Seven’s Queensland newshour rates almost 4x WIN’s Nine News relay, with 7QLD’s high ratings dropping 33% at 7pm, while WIN’s ratings actually increase with A Current Affair. Bit of a switchover there from Seven’s Rob and Sharyn hour to WIN’s Tracy, although ACA still behind.
