7 Owns the Maroochydore property however it’s been on the market for some time.
Gladstone is only an hour from Rockhampton by car. Do 7 have a newsroom there?
Seven does have a bureau in Rockhampton.
So maybe it’s not such a huge deal? 1 hour by car…it takes longer to get a crew from Sydney to Penrith.
There are gonna be job cuts within 7 and 7 News no doubt. Sadly
Gladstone is odd as it’s always had its own Sales Office which became a News Bureau as well when the CQ bulletin was established. It’s a shame they’ve closed it but it is only an hour from Rocky so it’s easy enough to send someone down there for stories. There is usually as many Gladstone reports as there are Rocky ones on the CQ bulletin so hopefully that remains the case.
SCA still has a presence in Gladstone, as does Grant Broadcasters (4CC is based out of there once again). I’m not familiar with the market but can only imagine it’s more convenient for sales than commuting from Rockhampton?
It is a big deal in Central Queensland. It’s 1 hour and 20 minutes between the two centres and from experience, it’s actually quite a long drive. It’s bearable if there’s a story that’s set up before hand but for breaking news it’s quite a big barrier. Rockhampton might be the larger centre but Gladstone is strategic to the state as it houses Queensland’s largest multi-commodity port - which exports coal, aluminium and LNG.
I see tonight that 7Qld are running “Supporting Local Business” ads top/tailed by Rob and Jo in the style of all the Coronavirus/In This Together pieces that every network has been running. Not sure the crossover of News/Advertsing departments is a good idea even if they’re not sprouting any products/businesses themselves.
That “Wide Bay” font was their old style branding from a while back
I personally have no doubt the sign is more than 15 years old…
He looks like Rob Brough from 30 years ago.
Could be extended family?
Might be time to update my avatar
Rob Brough has been away from Sunshine Coast screens for 2 weeks. Will he return Monday? Will the news editor have to reduce the number of stories in the bulletin?
Any ideas as to what he’s been doing?
You may be surprised to know that just like anyone else, news anchors are also entitled to at least 4 weeks of annual leave a year!
Not sure - there are other news presenters in Queensland seemingly on holidays last week as well.
Of course I know that
