He wasn’t that bad either. Looked like he has hands in his picked. Though Steve Murphy is a bit more professional in style, also has his own live streaming sports company all in sports.
So normally no sport presenter, except when the presenter is away?
It’s usually like that whenever Nick Hose (who normally presents sport for the Border, Central West, Riverina and New England bulletins, in addition to reading the news) is away.
yes, get that, seems odd to bring in a fill-in for a position that’s not usually filled.
True
As I understand it, the sport segment is recorded earlier in the day before the news and weather segments, so it could be that the other Canberra-based presenters have other duties at that time, making it easier to get someone else to present sport than to juggle things in Canberra.
Also a good development opportunity for the journos on the ground, but I’m sure that doesn’t enter into the reasoning.
Just would make sense to have an actual sport presenter then?
But then that is an additional role, more expensive.
Usually done on location too?, so that may also somehow play into the decision making?, could be filmed while the Canberra studio is otherwise in use?
So according to my insider at the 7News Regional office in Canberra there are going to be 3 new noodle updates for the following places: Broken Hill, Hobart and Spencer Gulf coming soon
This must be an error? They already receive a full bulletin…? Or is this Hobart-specific updates?
Any word on a start date?
Not Sure yet
Hobart specific updates
As long as Seven keeps their composite hour-long bulletin for Tasmania at 6pm, I reckon viewers in Hobart will be totally fine with updates for their local area, given Nightly News 7 Tasmania (soon to be rebranded to 7NEWS Tasmania) comes out of Launceston.
In saying that though, just out of pure curiosity, how many stories on the hour-long Nightly News service are Launceston/Northern Tasmanian-focused, and how many are Hobart/Southern Tasmanian-focused?
Mmm, not sure I like the sound of that, surely you’d want to use the Launceston based presenter and cross promote the 6pm bulletin as much as possible in the updates.
Probably would? Do separate updates for north and south, but one bulletin.
Does enough happen in Broken Hill for it to have its own?
It’s a legal requirement, so yes.
the market is Spencer Gulf/Broken Hill, as was covered by GTS/BKN news previously, not Broken Hill on its own.
