Mark Humphries features on the latest episode of Stellar magazine’s Something to Talk About podcast.
I’ve been thinking about Seven’s predicament next year with Tim Watson set to step down from his sports presenting role.
I think it’s clear the best internal candidate is Rebecca Maddern. None of the other sport presenters/reporters have the same calibre or profile to go up against Nine’s Tony Jones or Clint Stanaway. Bec is the best person for the job.
This would allow Karina to move into the weekend chair alongside Mike.
So, how do you make it up to Bec for moving her to sport? Give her the Melbourne afternoon news bulletin to anchor (in addition to reading sport at 6pm).
Therefore, Mike and Karina can job-share the Morning News bulletin, which can move production to Melbourne, to satisfy their contractual requirements in addition to the weekend news.
This also solves the problem of Ann Sanders reportedly moving on at the end of this year, if the Morning News moves to Melbourne, and the Sydney Afternoon News can be helmed by whoever is presenting weather in Sydney on that night (Angie Asimus or Sally Bowrey). But if Ann stays, she can keep reading the Sydney 4pm bulletin!
It was revealed during tonight’s Melbourne bulletin that Paul Dowsley would be among Victorian journalists travelling with Premier Jacinta Allan on her four day Indian trip this week. Paul’s first report will appear tomorrow.
And again tonight.
As I said last week, more money
Odd choice.
Isn’t he one of their senior reporters though?
You’d think Sharnelle Vella considering she is the State Political Reporter
You’ve probably spent more time thinking about this than the people who actually make these decisions.
Another reason why MS should be running these networks not the actual heads of network.
I mean, surely we can’t be any worse than Anthony De Ceglie?
Exactly my point here
It might not be Seven’s choice - knowing what the Vic govt are like I wouldn’t be surprised if they dictate which journalists can and can’t come. They might not want state political reporters there.
Andrews was known for being selective with who came along, I doubt Jacinta press office is much different, last time I checked her media team is still much the same as Andrews.
Only time media offices have a shake-up is either when one party is voted out of office, or if a leader get’s backstabbed by one of their own.
Since Andrews basically handed it over to Jacinta, then I’d assume that it would be business as usual.
