She doesn’t - what Jane did in Adelaide is she gave them enough time to do proper succession planning. Ann could’ve done the same, or she could just leave when her contract is finished - was only suggesting that Seven could maybe doing some succession planning.

Nothing particularly unusual about that given that she normally does Fridays.
What IS unusual however is a) getting Karina to fill in Monday to Thursday when Sally could do it just as easily (given she’s already doing 4pm) and b) having her do so from Sydney when it’s possible to be read from Melbourne.

I guess Katrina or someone else would have to do Sydney afternoons on a few days each week since Sally also does Weekend Sunrise news duties (unless she is going to be working 7 days).
If they just flew Karina up for the morning news, then they may as well just rotate between Mike, Bec and Karina in Melbourne.

She has been filling in for Mike Smithson for the past two weeks.
Wasn’t going to be Andrea filling in for her anyway as she was the state political reporter, so either way it’s likely that Gertie will be doing Elspeth’s duties.
