Seven News Presenters and Reporters

@TV.Cynic would I be correct in saying that Geelong is apart of the Melbourne market though?

Yes

Yeh. I think Geelong is.

How good would it be if Geelong had a local bulletin like the Gold Coast.

Would be great, but Melbourne and Geelong share the same transmitter - Gold Coast can have local news without it being on Brisbane TV because they have separate transmitters IIRC.

Saying g’day from OzTAM Melbourne Region 5

(We never ever got and still dont get these further breakdowns, if they exist, do we, strictly networks and advertisers? I remember former Sunrise EP Michael Pell said in an article one day “we can really break those audiences down if we want to… suburb by suburb” or something like that and found that fascinating. Must’ve been what he was referring)

David Woiwood’s reporting on the US election is ridiculously biased in favour of Harris. Seven News has become total trash.

Says the Sky News fanboy whose beloved network is ridiculously biased in favour of Trump. Sky News is total trash.

Geelong has have a local transmitter, but you’re right most are pointed at Mt Dandenong.

Yep. I noticed that also as well as family who were watching it.

I think 7 have been pretty good to Trump, to be honest. Basically rolling coverage of the shooting and then Woiwood covered the republican convention extensively. Nobody complained about bias then.

The fact is Trump made himself look bad in the debate - if you want to call that bias, so be it.

It’s better than the ridiculous false equivalence some outlets continue with even though he’s a deranged lunatic who tried to subvert the last election and led an attempted coup.

Interesting Sally was brought in if Karina is seemingly available.

So Karina is only in Sydney for the Morning News?

My guess could be that they might be using this opportunity to trial different people in the roles, similar to what they did when Fergo was on extended leave, with Angela doing weeknights solo, Angie and Usher doing weekends together, to see how ratings change or how the presenters perform.

Obviously, I hope they leave Ann in the chair for as long as she wants to be there, but obviously, there will need to be planning for when the time comes.

When Jane Doyle left, she gave them 18 months notice so they could do proper succession planning, which is what they did by quickly swooping on Will Gooding’s. Maybe they hired Katrina with having her eventually take over Ann’s roles.

But obviously this is speculation and I could be entirely wrong.

HSV could easily handle the Morning News with Karina still fronting it. Waste of money flying someone intrastate and putting them up in a hotel.

Considering Karina was hired by HSV, it would be a be a bit strange seeing her pop up on local news in Sydney.

My thought is that Seven wanted to hire Karina with a national role in mind, however, HSV is the only place where she can do regular duties in the meantime.

Given Karina use to live in Sydney, wouldn’t be surprised if she still has her own place.

I don’t think 18 months notice is needed for a 11:30 am news
