Seven News Presenters and Reporters

They are two completely different circumstances.

Gemma isn’t going anywhere. Her new role announcement states that she will continue to be on air. What exactly are you tracking there?

How some members keep mentioning whenever she appears on Sunrise, etc.

Well, there’s no purpose for that. She’s going to continue to appear as per announcement.

Posting that Paul is presenting his normal role each night does nothing. He clearly isn’t going as imminently as expected. His contract could end in December for all we know.

I’m not saying that it is necessary. I’m just pointing out that if we do it with one presenter, why shouldn’t we do it with another?

Because they are two completely different scenarios. Personally, I don’t like the whole tracking thing on this forum but it was voted to continue so be it.

They are not Both are meant to be reducing their appearance (by taking on executive roles or being sacked), but are still appearing as frequently as they are.

Ugh, okay.

Gemma is staying with the network. Her on air role and been reduced and she will be appearing randomly every now and then. What’s to track? There will be no pattern. As announced, random appearances as needed.

Paul is leaving after his contract. Posting that he’s presenting every night proves pointless as he isn’t leaving immediately like most cuts do. So, tracking him every night is a pointless exercise because we don’t when he’s leaving.

The Gold Coast Bulletin report on this opened with the information that Paul Burt had been sacked and replaced on Tuesday’s weather report by Tony Auden with the clear implication he wouldn’t be back.

A popular Channel Seven weatherman has been sacked amid dozens of job cuts at the embattled network.

He reportedly did not present the weather bulletin on Tuesday night as Brisbane reporter Tony Auden filled in.

So this week it has been shown not to be the case. Also pointing out that the presenters for surfing, fishing and other coastal conditions all seem to be now missing; not reported previously. Certainly worth noting.

It said he would leave at the end of his contract. If he was away Tuesday then appeared on Wednesday doesn’t that tell you he isn’t leaving immediately?

I hadn’t seen a timeline, so I was interested that he was still on. After you mentioned it David, I went and looked at the Courier Mail. I saw this updated article, now with a quote from Burt:

TV weatherman Paul Burt among the Channel 7 staff to get the chop in new job cuts

Josh Adsett has been with Seven for a long time too.

It was reported or rumoured that Tim Watson’s sport and Jane Bunn’s weather were two driving forces behind HSV’s news ratings surge pre-2024, the old 6.30pm ratings breakout also used to suggest that

We don’t know for sure that’ll solve anything though, at least in isolation. Weren’t Mike and Bec actually trailing Mitchell the last couple of years and Loxley at Nine was still doing decent vs Hitchener - her performance alone could’ve contributed to her promotion this year

Wonder if she’s had any say in the SWM redundancies and structural changes, though you’d think unlikely given she’s only just been appointed at exec herself.

More likely De Ceglie and Howard.

Wonder if the board, Stokes Sr and Stokes Jr via Seven Group Holdings have had any significant input too.

Not sure if it’s recent but Elizabeth Creasy is now with Seven Perth, previously with Nine until April last year.

Another ex-STW journalist now at TVW, which is barely surprising.

As I keep saying… “if you can’t beat them, join them”.

No… nor do we need to follow and track the appearances of any presenter. It’s boring, tedious, and slightly creepy.

It really doesn’t provide any value to the forum. The whole so and so is presenting today stuff.

Ratings = revenue.

When the revenue dives deeper off the cliff, perhaps little Kerry will wake up and move his mate Tony to another job or out altogether?

Any relation to Nathan Spurling?

Whole post is spot on and on this, your wise man continues to pay dividends. Diaries are contemporaneous notes and you don’t want them used against you in any forum, let alone a legal one.

Pushing the boundaries of what he can get away with in the final weeks probably. This is why talent vanishes with no farewell as the swan song can become the story.

As with many News Ltd publications, the CFMEU billboard on Campbell St to affront the Bowen Hills News Ltd staff is the only thing I agree with the union on:

Is it true, or did you read it in the CM?

So true about the Bulletin, a rubbish rag.
