7News Adelaide presenter and reporter Elspeth Hussey is expecting a baby later this year - Elspeth mentioned it during the 5pm news in the post sports banter with Bruce.

I believe she announced it a few weeks ago - maybe not on air though.

Yep she did.

Looking at Seven’s books, the purge has to be making the chairman’s favourite Ann Sanders, with 44 years under her designer belt, nervous, not to mention the highly paid Chris Reason (30+ years), Kylie Gillies (30+ years), Melbourne newsreader Peter Mitchell (30+ years) and Seven’s Director of Morning Television and McPherson mentee Sarah Stinson (25 years).

And then there’s poor old Sydney newsreader Mark Ferguson, whose $700k contract has to be in “The Great Unifier’s” sights.

It would make a lot of sense to have Angela Cox and Michael Usher do Ann’s shifts given they don’t do The Latest anymore.

Ann is good though. Why is Mark reportedly on $700k? He’s not hot property, you can knock that down a fair bit

You have to wonder about the whole article though when it is trying to equate recent redundancies at Seven with Nine’s ratings wins in the metro markets; as though the switch to Nine just happened.

"The slide began a week after De Ceglie boasted to industry bible Mediaweek: “(Seven News has) been number one nationally since 2015 and it’s been number one in the metro area since 2016.”

As mentioned in the Nine News thread, the slide began in January when Tipping Point came on the scene and Nine launched a new team in Melbourne.

Tim Lester is back in Canberra as a political reporter for seven after being a US correspondent for the last few years.

Slightly surprised he didn’t stay in the US a few more months to cover the presidential election.

Does he have a replacement in the US or are they going back to a single correspondent (aka cost cutting)?

Appears his last report Stateside was on the Friday just passed (June 28).

This now leaves Mylee Hogan and David Woiwod to hold the fort in Los Angeles. I think the former has just (or is about to) racked up twelve months in the US.

Has anyone seen Mark Riley on air recently?

If he is another one of the cuts, then maybe Tim is back to replace him.

I hope not he could just be taking some time off.

we’d have heard about it!

Surely they wouldn’t axe their main political reporter with decades of experience…

Surely they wouldn’t axe any other high profile or long serving talent in front & behind the scenes…

Oh wait, they have.

Tim Lester could just be filling in… it would be odd if you were relocating to be back at work within days of moving back.

Having said that, Tim would be a very suitable replacement should Mark have left, or ever leave.

and as always, holding her own very well.

also seems Gertie is now doing weekday weather with Amelia on weekends, guess she’s easing back in post mat-leave?

She’s posted that she is doing weekends for a few months.

Amelia is also now doing the local Sunday 5pm bulletin, which Gertie did prior to Amelia returning.
