Abbey Gelmi returns from maternity leave to present sport on the Melbourne bulletin, six months after giving birth to a baby boy.
On Sunrise this morning, recently appointed European correspondent Ashlee Mullany was erroneously labelled on screen as “Europe Bureau Chief”, though she was verbally referred to as “Europe correspondent”.
Probably worth noting she was formerly the US Bureau Chief - a position now held by David Woiwod.
Has Hugh Whitfield departed? He’s been in that position for so long now, must be nearly a decade.
I wouldn’t know - though I think I saw him file a report as late as the weekend.
If Whitfield was to leave then Seven would release a statement as such.
Also worth noting he was a general reporter in Sydney before moving to Europe.

Is it possible that one of Seven News Brisbane presenters will fly to Melbourne later this week for the AFL Grand Final?
In 2018, Rick Ardon and Ryan Daniels were in Melbourne to cover West Coast’s preparations for the title decider, and the team’s eventual win. Rick was stationed outside the MCG for the bulletin.
Last year, Mel McLaughlin presented sport inside the MCG for the Sydney bulletin, after the Swans were thrashed by Geelong in the GF.
yes it’s possible.
And in 2017 SAS-7 Adelaide’s Jessica Adamson was in Melbourne, also positioned outside the MCG in Jolimont, either live-crossing or presenting (Adelaide Crows were thrashed by Richmond who broke a 30+ year drought and began their reign that year).
I think Ben Davis will be present for the AFL, and Shane Webcke will present on Sunday from outside the NRL.
Tom Sacre presented sport on the Morning News today.
7Brisbane: Alissa Smith is reading sport from Melbourne tonight, with Ben Davis reporting from the MCG.
By the Yarra River with Princes Bridge and the CBD in the background. Very popular location for news crosses.
