Yeah I am very surprised by that. Thought they would have been worried that they may be more popular than her. It also makes it a little more confusing for viewers since Sarah only just started. However, I think it is the right decision to have a replacement, but not sure not just getting Katrina to cover it would have been better.

I think that’s why they’re splitting the role rather than having just one of them covering.

Sonia Marinelli has quit the network reports Herald Sun.
After three years in that role, Marinelli informed bosses of her decision during the week.
As expected, she’ll be replaced by Tyra Stowers who has filled in over summer and impressed. She will officially begin on Saturday.

Sonia has put her family first.
Also, she had posted on Instagram in early January about a new venture about creating legacy films for a person and their loved ones.
Looks like HS got it wrong again. Sonia actually resigned from the network, she wasn’t let go.

Wouldn’t be the first time someone got let go and their exit was managed for publicity reasons.

Could also be that she was dropped from the weather role, but offered reporting or producing duties but instead she decided to leave

Ultimately they were right. A Melbourne weather personality was leaving.

Don’t just believe network PR and spin.
Perhaps she was told she was out of the weather role and decided she’d rather leave than stick around after a demotion.
Either way it seems she got the axe from the weather gig.
And you think she just spun up a small business to launch as soon as she was ‘let go’?

Somewhat appears this wasn’t just dropped on 7 Management with some trials of other presenters in prior months. Lines up with waiting for house to settle etc.
Her replacement needs to stop screaming down the camera however.

This made me think that the article a couple of weeks ago may not have been about Sonia, and that there may be rumours about the future of someone else. But there is nothing about anyone else in the article.
She had an interesting diction on some words. Odd choice for me.
