Fantastic news!
Surely an admission that it was a big mistake to let Sharyn go.
I have a feeling that Max will become the weak link in the pairing again.
Now Melbourne is officially the only capital with a single header on weekdays.
Is it though? Perhaps Sarah is cheaper?
Agreed. It’s not an admission at all in my opinion. It was planned to replace Sharyn with a cheaper option.
Hilarious somewhat that Max & Sarah are both ex 10, and now Sharyn is fronting 10’s return to local news in Queensland.
Also included in that article is the news that “Long-time journalist Katrina Blowers has been promoted to Queensland Chief Reporter” whatever that means.
The article also states that Sarah will continue her work with 7News Spotlight.
Must admit, I’ve got no idea who she is.
Never watched Spotlight.
You’ve never seen her as an international correspondent across the 7News programs?
Where’s she from again?
No. I rarely watch a full 7 News bulletin as I’m usually on 9 or 10
Have to wonder if any savings from a potential lower salary were worth blowing up the previously competitive news ratings, generating a huge amount of negative PR for the channel and news service and seemingly giving Nine’s ratings a big boost across the rest of prime time.
Well then if you don’t watch 7 of course you don’t know who she is?
She’s an award winning international correspondent. If you’re clued in to the biz you know who she is.
I’m sure Sarah will be great and she is a fantastic journalist, but has she ever read a news bulletin?
To my knowledge - no.
So therefore this will be unchartered territory for her.
Hopefully Sarah can show the ABC it’s possible to work your main role full time and have a side gig at the same time.
Funnily enough she used to report for 10 prior to the mass cuts in the early 2010s.
Finally somewhat of a good decision from Seven, even though it was at the expense of one of their most recognisable talents.
Good choice, although rather surprising IMO - honestly thought that they were going to put Katrina Blowers next to Max. Although, she did say she wanted her weekends back for family reasons so may of been the same with weeknights.
Keep her happy? Katrina and Samantha both overlooked here. Sarah is a great journalist and certainly is a rising star, but could unnerve a reportedly already poor culture.
Why suffer for two months with weak ratings? I knew they would have to appoint a co-anchor but there’s no way Anthony knows what he’s doing. All very ad hoc decision making, and now retreating on several fronts.
Either management were hoping that ratings wouldn’t suffer, but then the numbers fell, or they were negotiating deals with Sarah and other possible candidates.
Either way, Seven have stuffed up in Brisbane, almost as badly as they did when they shafted Rod and Kay to weekends for not reason.
