Respected SEN Breakfast presenter Garry Lyon cheekily used his radio program on Wednesday morning to float the rumour that Tony Armstrong could be set to soon join Seven as a sports presenter on the network’s Melbourne news service.

I rate Tony as talent but I’m not sure he’s suited to sports presenting on a straight news bulletin.

He was decent when he did morning sport on the News Channel.

Surely he’s best suited to an AFL show and live AFL footage.

A Brisbane-born journalist has been named as the replacement for Sharyn Ghidella to anchor Channel 7’s 6pm bulletin alongside Max Futcher after her predecessor’s shock exit.

The Brisbane-born journalist, will join Max Futcher at the newsdesk starting Monday, 21 October.

She has spent the last five years as a foreign correspondent, covering major global events including the war in Ukraine and the devastating Turkey-Syria earthquakes.

“Coming home to my original 7News family is a huge thrill,” Greenhalgh said.
