I disargee. I give you one name and the backlash from that sacking that still send chills to TV network Execs to this day. That name is Mal Waldren and his sacking at Channel 7.
Sharyn Gidella and Mel Waldren sackings are similar. The only difference is Mal Waldren did not ask to come back for a final sign off.
Damian Barrett has said on his podcast The Sounding Board that he has received information that Seven have big plans for both Karina Carvalho and U.S. correspondent David Woiwod.
He’s only been their bureau chief for just over twelve months, I couldn’t see him returning to Australia anytime soon (taking into account the fact that Mike Amor and Hugh Whitfield had (or in the case of Whitfeld is about to complete) lengthy stints as US and Europe bureau chiefs, respectively).
I also mentioned this a few posts above, but Tim Lester is also back Stateside after his month-long stint in Canberra.
More like her whole time at the ABC. Was made WA weeknight anchor before her time - was dull and the only thing the audience knew of her was her wardrobe budget. Was terrible on News Breakfast. Was shoved into the QLD 7pm at the expense of a popular local. Moved to the news channel where she underperformed again.
I reckon she might’ve expected a call from Sky News but when that didn’t come/pay enough other opportunities have had to be found.
Ashlee Mullany also had a lengthy time as US Bureau Chief and covered some of the biggest events of our time, from the very end of 2016, only relocating under Hugh Whitfeld to the London bureau a year or so ago.
I know this sounds a bit farfetched but could it possible that Seven might be building a small team up in Melbourne to build the foundations on 24/7 news channel?
I think its more the restructing going on… they seem to be pulling back on their local recourses in each market and redeploying in other areas. This is what makes me question it. But I could be completely off the mark.
Perhaps they could introduce a Sunrise All Day (like Today has in the US).
Watch TODAY Show favorites, celebrity interviews, show exclusives, food, recipes, lifestyle tips and more on TODAY All Day , a streaming network from TODAY.
Very interesting footage here, the reporter says he’s being charged with stalking, as she proceeds to chase him for an unnecessarily long amount of time - seems intrusive.
EXCLUSIVE: Robert De Jonge has run for mayor and federal politics but today, he was running from our cameras after facing a Christies Beach magistrate, charged with stalking and breaching an intervention order. #7NEWS
Didn’t Docklands (when it ran as BCM with the national playout teams including bulk of presentation there) employ hundreds more, would’ve been the largest station or certainly single building. Including Seven Sport’s base and coordinating all Olympics, Comm Games, Aus Opens, AFL GFs and Melbourne Cups the past 20 years. And this all or mostly continued until 2019 / 2020!
Yep that’s right. BCM would’ve been thriving in its hayday when it ran national playout. Always loved that control room backdrop they used on the national bulletins.
