Seven News Presenters and Reporters (2020-Feb 2025)

This exactly. Up front. A big middle finger to management from the Brisbane newsroom.

I wouldn’t be so sure. By all accounts it also had a lot to do with the new Brisbane news director, Michael Coombes. He didn’t even have the decency to tell her in person. Several other long serving senior staff have been treated just as poorly over the past few weeks, which has caused a big rift within the newsroom.

This is nothing more than a quick attempt to lessen the damage control.

Sharyn’s social media post literally says ‘ive seen the toll its take on those who’ve left, those delivering the pain and those still there…’.

That would indicate to me she’s sympathetic to those delivering the pain. Michael’s been on the mountain for decades - I can’t see him being an enthusiastic adopter of the new direction.

Mark Ferguson, Peter Mitchell, Mike Amor, Angela Cox, Michael Usher and Rebecca Maddern would all have to be a bit nervous…

Excluding Adelaide and Perth given their ratings, not that it means they’re 100% safe either though.

Didn’t stop Seven sacking Graeme Goodings, Jessica Adamson or Tim Noonan in Adelaide.

The decision itself is bewildering, but how sloppy Seven were with running promos and teases during the day. That is extraordinarily lazy/incompetent (not from the foot soldiers, but the higher-ups). Should have been the first thing pulled.

If Fergo goes, I assume Usher will do weeknights and Angela Cox will do weekends.

This era is going to go down as a disaster like Ten’s news revolution.

The new CEO won’t last long.

I don’t think half of that list would have a huge concern and I don’t really think its respectful or right to be speculating on “Who’s next”.
May be all very exciting to type about this on a forum and share you opinions but remember these are people being affected by these decisions. Sharon sadly is one of the hundreds across the industry that has been impacted at the moment. At the moment, its all about the numbers and making shareholders happy and we are seeing this play out on screen and in media reports.
I wish her all the best. She’s an absolutely lovely and class act.

It’s a nice touch but also reeks of damage control. Also don’t like that whoever cut that overlay used a lot of Max beside Sharyn; it’s probably not a conscious decision but also feels a bit like they’re trying to tie Max to her legacy when he’s really only been a duo with her for a little bit.

Does it mean he files stories on Asia from Perth?

The only other option would have been to show her with Bill… she has spent more years with Max then she did with Bill.

I also dont think it is damage control… if the wanted to control the damage they would not have gotten rid of her to begin with. Its just the courteous thing to do when someone gives you 17 years service.

With all the cost cutting happening surely not.
7 i don’t think have ever had a Asia Editor!!

Have they even had an Asian correspondent before?
