Seven News Presenters and Reporters (2020-Feb 2025)

Snap Sharyn up 10 and bring back the local bulletin in QLD.

Perth employed Charlotte Goodlett to present weekend weather a few months back.
Perth hadn’t had a weekend weather presenter since Rebecca Twigley did it back in 2010.

Does anyone have video of that!!

Unfortunately it’s not as simple as that, though she would indeed be a huge grab for TVQ.

There’s other logistics to sort out including upgrading the infrastructure, studio and other things. Couldn’t see it happening this year.

There is no need for local news at 11.30 if they are cash strapped.
If they are pooling resources for Sunrise Perth, sure, but why not take the same format as 10 News First Midday and re-record a portion of the bulletin if news changes?

“Love you Shaz”.
Nice one Max :+1::+1::+1:

6pm bulletin started with a brief farewell.
“She didn’t want a farewell and she didn’t want a fuss.”
“My good mate.”

Seems like damage control.

I don’t agree with that take. This is a Sydney decision. The local team- those who work with her, who produce the bulletin- likely are very upset by the decision. Leading the bulletin with this is quite bold, IMO.

Was all class by Max opening tonight. Well done to those involved, great way to pay tribute.

Not sure it was worthy of the beginning of the bulletin though…

I would have preferred a longer tribute with a bit more effort put into retrieving archive footage like Sharyn’s marathon efforts at rolling coverage for various stories like cyclones, floods etc.

No room at back of bulletin due to other ‘exciting’ new segments

Agreed with all, would have been nice to finish the bulletin a couple of minutes early to allow a nice send off and montage of her work over the years at the end, but couldn’t work due to the new segment in that place. Probably says something, doesn’t it…

Horrible how they introduce a new segment at the same time when Sharyn gets let off

They’d have done it in the old days, when TV had heart

Can’t really win… i think putting it at the top of the news is a pretty big move.

Putting at the end of the bulletin when she isnt there to make any comment might not have worked too well either.

Probably a fuck you from the Brisbane team to those pulling the strings elsewhere. Bravo.

Because the people are already there - may as well use them.

Probably damage control - also if the decision to axe Sharyn was a Sydney management decision, then it’s probably also a big fuck you from the Brisbane team to them, who probably know that their ratings are going down.
