It’s still against a lot of company policy. I would say most workplaces would say the same.
Not sure about your contact but I have a number of things in mine relating to inappropriate behavior.
It’s what you have outlined in your comment that is the issue in most workplaces - “harmless fun” is still not appropriate in any sense and in 2024 all of these people are now being discovered who once would have once been protected.
Seven in a sense have been notorious for this in the past.
holidays from his proper job. Checking Will’s social, does he know he’s on 7 now too… Not a mention of it, you’d think if you were gifted the plumiest job in town you’d at least allude to it.
We are now in the era of everyone being offended by everything. Much of the shit I got away with at work 20 years ago would never fly these days. Times have changed and sending anything like what was claimed to have been sent is incredibly risky.
Don’t send anything you wouldn’t want coming back to bite you and don’t do or say anything to anyone who you aren’t close friends with and/or haven’t known for a very long time AND that you know is ok with it. Most important of all: keep it off any work device or work email.
Even then you still have to be careful. In the case being discussed the recipient was fine with it and yet the sender was still let go. That was just corporate ass covering so that they have a defense in future cases. “Oh we fired so and so for doing this. We have zero tolerance.”… blah blah.
It would likely have to be in addition to someone’s current role or a rescoped job - the role is being made redundant and employment lawyers don’t look too kindly on some of those shenanigans.
Do they really need a sport reporter? Many nights there is barely anything to report that is purely local.
Also mentioned in the CM report
There had been fears for the future of Seven’s Gold Coast news bulletin, but it is expected to continue operating on a skeleton staff after several employees and freelancers were among those let go.
You can get someone else to do the same stuff for cheaper pay if there role is renamed or additional roles are added i.e. in this case Liz would be the fulltime presenter and presenter of Thursday night Lotto.
And she isn’t that good either. Paul is a decent loss- no one on their team is like him either. It’s interesting given it affects the Brisbane bulletin too.
