He only worked on air Tuesday to Saturday. So he was doing 5 days. What was he doing the 6th day you mentioned?
Sorry I thought there was a Sunday costal report.
Does that mean Sally Pearson’s job is safe for now?
Gold Coast TV is again living up to its reputation for being an unreliable place to work - multiple bulletins across 7 & 9 & Prime axed over the years. Any local radio staff that worked in GC TV usually treated it only as beer and cigarette money.
SWM must be in a bad way to be finishing up people like Paul. Only one of the original SWM management team is left and they can’t get the sack but that doesn’t mean they should stay on forever either just because they can. New people often can see things that the old hands can’t.
With Seven in this cost-cutting mode, when will newsroom execs address the elephant in the room - sport and weather presenters being paid the big bucks for little work?
These people are on-air for just 5-10 minutes. Please don’t tell me they are in the office all day writing their scripts and preparing for the bulletin - that’s what producers are for.
Yes, their presence might add perceived value to the viewer at home, but at what cost to the network? Why pay 3x salaries (news, sport and weather presenter) for a job that can be adequately performed by one person?
I’m not saying any of these people need to be sacked, they could be offered a behind the scenes role on a lower salary.
And on a similar note - wouldn’t it be a big saving for the networks and a more efficient use of resources to have the 6pm readers also do the 4pm bulletins.
I have made a mock roster which reflects the above:
I can’t speak for Seven, but at other networks the world over, presenters do write their own scripts - or at the very least, edit them to fit their reading style. They don’t just saunter in to the office an hour before the show.
For all we know, some of the sport/weather presenters may already have ‘behind the scenes’ rolls & who says they are on huge salaries, are any of them publicly gloating about what they are being paid. Possibly they are happy with a casual’s salary and a very public roll
Seven should have launched their bulletin on or prior to 1996 (when Nine launched their bulletin). Nine is way too strong and the ratings reflect that all these years later.
Yes, Prime was around but it was never going to properly compete with the 6pm Brisbane services especially when running back to back with Sydney news.
Seven failed the first time between 1998-1999 mostly due to Nine running an already established bulletin and Nine spending a lot more money on the look and feel.
But back to topic, not sure where Paul Burt will go because Nine already have Luke Bradnam but possibly back to radio?
I’d say 9 will snap him up. They seem to have plenty of money these days.
Couple of Cammos axed in Adelaide (re my prediction around the pooling arrangement). No word if any on-air staff affected yet.
“It is understood there would be minimal other redundancies.”
“Another source said reporters had been informed that ratings no longer matter, and there were reports at the weekend that 7NEWS staff nationally were now required to make TikTok content for every story they filed.”
Can you see Chris Reason or Nick McCallum doing this?
Already seeing a lot of this stuff on 7News Adelaide’s Instagram
However, half the time they still say “see the full details in 7News at Six”
Good on her, lovely news. Is this her third child?
Give him GM of Seven Queensland, that’s the role Seven/Little Kerry rewards poor behaviour with.
It won’t be genuine at 7, nothing more than excuse to save money, sack a few more.
However, if these journalists are using the company email/work message apps eg Teams, they’re not too smart/arrogant of their position, hence the problem with seven culture.
Where is he now? What is he doing?
Assuming that’s his FluffIn profile, Essential Media is his company, however is it active and not dormant?
Some of these TV staffers have more front than Myer, they’re delusional and will do anything.
100% correct - most enterprises are crammed full of Bossware and work emails should never be any more than a simple yes/no, click here/mouse there etc. You need to keep opinions out of them and if anymore needs discussing use a meeting room. If it’s really hot take it offsite to a coffee shop. Same goes for Teams or any other corporate messaging app.
