That response sums up the current delusional management at Seven News in a nutshell. Looking at Seven News’ dwindling figures over the past several years, that opinion may actually be commonly shared among 24,000,000 Australians.
If “that is your opinion only.” is the standard response to viewer feedback, is it any wonder why this news service has lost so many viewers and credibility over the past several years.
I agree with the producer who commented. There’s lots of bagging of 7 news content, graphics and sets on here, but i really don’t find it any different to 9. In fact, my opinion is 7 is superior in all of those areas. But as I said, that’s just my opinion.
There are other factors such as the lead in program which have contributed to 7 losing ground in the ratings. The improvement since The Chase began is evidence of this.
So you work at Seven News and think that focusing in on a single fact is enough to form a well-rounded conclusion?
I’m sorry, but you’re not doing your cause any favours.
Appearance is similar because Seven producers looked to Nine for inspiration. The difference, Nine News consistently deliver a polished product. Nine can make crap look decent. Seven have no creativity, no direction; it is evident on-air. Ratings speak for themselves.
Those 2 posts made by a Seven News producer have only reinforced that Seven News will continue to be a lost cause under current management.
And that’s just an opinion as mine is. I disagree. I think Nine make their crap look tabloid with their graphics. Their set has to be one of the worst on television. Colours, shapes, materials that don’t go together. Again, just my opinion.
Paula Voce presenting 7 news tonight very strange both Ric & Sue off
Both are attending the 7Perth 2016 launch.
Yes in deed they are a lot photos on Twitter
I have heard ‘on the grapevine’ that Angela Tsun is being taken off weather duties to become weekend anchor on both Saturday and Sunday, with Samantha Jolly to take over the afternoon news.
Is she being groomed to take over from Sue?
And I wonder if Angela will still do the weather 3 nights a week?
Makes sense as Ang reads Sunday night already and never made sense that Blake and Sam did Saturday night as a double header. I really like her presenting. She’s very commanding. I wonder what this means for Blake though. Will he take on weather? He is the main fill in currently.
Bit late isn’t it?
What are we making of David Brown still up in Sydney doing the weather? I expect Sarah to be back on board next week with the supposed relaunch but it has been great having Brown up here.
I would’ve thought that Sarah Cumming will still be on maternity leave until about March or April myself.
Forgot she had a child (whoops). So in that case do we think Browny is up here for a while?
Sarah has been off for several months with Sally filling in on weeknights and Angie doing weekends. No reason why that shouldn’t continue once everybody is back at work, unless they are actively looking to improve their weather service in Sydney in which case Brownie would be perfect (better than perfect actually).
It would really depend on whether he was willing to make the move permanently or not. Did he move up to Sydney during his brief stint doing Sunrise weather or was that just done from Melbourne?
Admittedly, I’m surprised that Seven didn’t get Angie Asimus to fill in on weeknights while Sally Bowrey is (presumably) on holidays with David Brown doing weekends.
Of course, I definitely think it would be great if David Brown became the weeknight weather presenter for Seven News Sydney on a full time basis but I’m not sure if he’d want to make a permanent move up here. Even if Browny became the new weeknight weather presenter for Sydney’s 6pm news, what would Sarah Cumming do when she returns from leave? Weekend weather? Back to general reporting?
It’s great to finally have a respected meteorologist presenting weather on a Sydney commercial bulletin. Having grown up watching Alan Wilkie, I’ve missed having a professional communicate and explain why we are experiencing the weather we are having. I seem to pay more attention when I know the person delivering the forecast actually knows what they are talking about and isn’t just rehashing data provided by the BOM.
It’s clear, however, that Brownie is an out of towner when he refers to areas of inland NSW as “the high country”. I thought “the high country” specifically referred to the mountainous part of the Australian Alps in Victoria. Perhaps he should bone up on the geographical regions around NSW if Seven intends to keep having him present weather for Sydney.
Is there a presenter who does Afternoon News full time in Sydney? She could do that… Daily Edition as well especially is Monique focuses on Weekend Sunrise.
Who knows! If Ann Sanders keeps doing it this year then there is also an opening presenting Morning Show news updates which could be combined with daytime weather updates and Daily Edition news updates.
Sarah would be good in a daytime role. She could easily replace Kylie or Sally Obermeder if either ever decided to move on.
