Seven News Presenters and Reporters (2015-Sept 2020)

She no Kay McGrath but she is far better than Nine’s weekend duo. It’s going to be bad soon (probably next week) when Darren will do weeknights and Alison will likely do weekends until Christmas Eve.

Kay did very well last week, helping Seven Brisbane to their biggest weekly win since August.

So I guess we can say that Ryan Phelan is an official news presenter as well as a sports presenter?

@Tom_TV7 Ryan has presented Morning & Afternoon bulletins on numerous occasions earlier this year.
And as you know he reads news updates on weekdays,so yes sport and news presenter.

Robert Ovadia presented in Sydney tonight.

None of these senior presenters work to “hours” as is sometimes raised here, they work when they are required to work (just like any other person earning $500k+ a year). He probably just had a prior commitment or was (hopefully!!!) taking a day off before presenting weeknights next week.

Also worth noting that Angie was off tonight, I daresay she would outrank Rob on the list of fill-in anchors these days.

Knowing Seven News Sydney, they will probably make Fergo stay on until at least next Thursday night’s “Martin Place Siege: Two Years On” bulletin.

She would certainly be, likely after Chris Reason.

Angie is pretty good, but wouldn’t be someone I would appoint as Seven News Sydney’s main anchor. Don’t forget Asimus came from up here in QLD where she read the weekend weather and co-anchored regularly over summer.

She did manage to bost Seven Nightly News numbers in Melbourne throughout the early 1990s, but I think Nine still took no 1 position.

With Nick McCallum filling in for Jen on weekends lately (assuming he’ll present tonight as well), I wouldn’t be surprised if Nick McCallum becomes Jen’s regular fill-in (at least they’ve got the right Nick this time), as he is much better than Jacqui Felgate and is a stalwart at the network. Besides, I don’t think there’s anyone better to fill-in on Seven Melbourne now that Bec and Nick Etchells have left the network (unless if Dean Felton or Blake Johnson were to start presenting), anyone have any other thoughts?

Nothing against Nick, as I’m sure he has the credibility. But surely 7 has someone - dare I say it - younger, that could be groomed or trained as an heir apparent to either Peter Mitchell or Jennifer Keyte?

They aren’t going to be around forever and we really need someone of the quality of Rebecca Maddern. At the moment they still haven’t filled that void. Jacqui Felgate is hopeless. Telling people to have a good afternoon at 4.56pm in the middle of winter and for that matter throughout late Autumn and early Spring when the sun sets by 6-6.30pm is an example of how out of touch and auto cue dependent she is.

Someone with authority, credibility, personality and talent needs to be found!!!

Blake Johnson. As I said before, if HSV was clever enough, they will put Blake Johnson as a fill-in one day. Surely they must know of his talents.

See. In my mind he really lacks authority at this stage.

I don’t think we’ll see him on weekends, but maybe on the local afternoon news during the summer.

Rick Ardon presenting in Perth tonight.
