Ryan Phelan presented sports in Sydney tonight.

Unfortunately I suspect the answer is obvious, but I’ll ask anyway: Was there even a brief acknowledgement/farewell by Ryan tonight for the retiring sports presenter on the channel one click up?

Unless Kenny worked on Seven before Nine, don’t even think they would even want to mention it (although I wished Fergo did say something about it as he and Kenny worked with each other before). In fact, I think Seven is ecstatic that Kenny is gone (although they don’t have much to be happy about as Cam Williams is another great sports presenter).

Also Cameron was once a sports presenter for Seven before joining Fox Sports.

The irony is delicious, isn’t it? The man who was Ken Sutcliffe’s main competition on Sydney sport back in the Early-Mid 1990s has become the very person will be succeeding him!

As it’s been said before, one has to wonder if Seven News Sydney now regrets not trying to sign Cameron Williams back to their network while he was off contract with Nine…

Seven should have. In my opinion Mel McLaughlin isn’t sports presenter material on the major news bulletin.

As much as I wanted Seven to sign Cam Williams into the role, it will mean that by now (if that happened), there will be 5 males and 1 female on Seven News Sydney (which is WAY TOO BLOKEY in addition 2 are Nine-Defects) unless if they had Melissa Doyle on weekdays instead.

Here’s the roster in Sydney if that happened.

Mark Ferguson (although I prefer Mel Doyle or Musher on Sun-Thurs)
Cameron Williams (Sun-Thurs)
David Brown (Sun-Thurs)

Michael Usher (Fri & Sat)
Jim Wilson (Fri & Sat)
Angie Asimus (Fri % Sat)

Great to see Ange back to present the National News. It’ll be interesting to see how she compares with Tom Steinfort. (Seven’s former US correspondent vs Nine’s Former Europe Correspondent). I assume she will also present the afternoon news today?

Angela is great so good to have her back reading bulletins. I assume she will do Fridays regularly from now on. BTW, she is way better than Steinfort.

With Ryan Phelan hosting TDE today,Matt Carmichael presented sport on Morning News and Paul Kadak read news updates on TDE.

Robert Ovadia presenting Afternoon news today.

Friday (09.12.16): Katrina Blowers is anchoring solo in Brisbane. Pat Welsh is on sport and Paul Burt is on weather.

And if this weeks’ ratings don’t tell Seven Qld anything I don’t know what will. Seven News Brisbane was number 1 at 6 and at 6.30 on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday when Kay was anchoring and as soon as she wasn’t Nine News Brisbane easily won last night.

Ryan Phelan presented sport again tonight in Sydney.

As I’m sure it’s been said many times before, Seven News Queensland really just needs to move Kay McGrath back to weeknight news already. That is, presuming she wants to present the news on weeknights on a regular basis again, of course.

Unfortunately, too many TV executives are too proud to admit they were wrong.

Queenslanders have been trying to speak this message three years ago, but it seems to have fallen on deaf ears.
