Seven News Presenters and Reporters (2015-Sept 2020)

I would say Max Futcher and Katrina Blowers as a double header (if Amanda Abate is still on Gold Coast news).

Does this mean that Jacqui Felgate will present on weekends filling in for Jen?
[/quote] Like last weekend, I think we will see Nick McCallum on weekends in Melbourne.

Maybe l suppose but then she would be working 7 days straight, l think we might see Nick McCallum again this weekend.
Personally l would like to see Blake Johnson instead.

Agreed. He’s definitely the pick of the lot in terms of fill-in presenters, although if Bec Maddern was still here I would definitely choose her over anyone.

Whatever happened to Dr Andrew Rochford, looks like he has quietly left Seven?

As far as I can tell, his last report with Seven was around mid-September.

Although knowing Dr Andrew, I’m sure he’ll eventually find another role somewhere in the media!

his twitter bio doesn’t even link to 7 at all on his account.

Wouldn’t surprise me we will see Blake presenting on Christmas Day in Melbourne.
Emily will most likely be Jane Bunn’s fill in over summer.

Fair enough. I guess what you mean is that if there was a form of a News Magazine program on Seven (highly unlikely in the near future), Mel would be suitable to that?

I would say Sunrise and Sunday Night are suitable to her style. She suits stories that are about real people’s lives, if you get what I mean.

Never knew:

Possibly but it would depend on exactly what form such a programme were to take. I don’t think she would suit a revival of TT but if it were something more editorial then sure. IMO she suits SN because it brings out far more of her personality (which suits the story telling, more compassionate journalism) than sitting behind a desk reading a bulletin ever did.

That journo Amelia Brace at Seven News’ Parliament House bureau is good  Can tell she’ll move on to bigger things one day.

Why did Seven News send Ashlee Mullany to the US? Does Emma Dallimore ring a bell? Boy they’re treating her poorly.

Why all the persistent comments about Blake Johnson? He may not even present a bulletin. He’s unknown to Melbourne & VIC

I get what you mean by how he isn’t known in Victoria, but I’m pretty sure Seven Melbourne knows about his presenting stint in Perth a few years ago, and if they were smart, they would use him as a fill-in presenter on Seven News, seeing that he is more than capable.

For all we know, Seven might be planning to use both Ashlee Mullany and Emma Dallimore as their US-based reporters.

All presenters/reporters who come from interstate to try and further their career in a larger market are generally unknown to local viewers when they start. I’m sure Seven Melbourne will build up Blake Johnson’s profile as time goes on.

Still disagree about Emma Dallimore, I still haven’t heard them refer to her as a “correspondent” but rather “reporter” or just “…joins us now from our US Bureau”. She also tends to get given stories when Mike or Angela weren’t around.

To me it seems Emma was initially just used to fill-in & now does a bit more.

But in Ch 7’s eyes, she wasn’t an ‘original Seven girl’, having been Ch 10’s US Bureau Chief for around 5 years…

Isn’t Emma primarily a producer these days? I don’t think you can really claim Seven have ever treated her badly given that they gave her a job after Ten pulled the plug (quite the opposite actually).

The foreign bureaus have always been a training ground for young journalists. Ashlee’s appointment is just that cycle continuing and in a few years she will no doubt return to Australia into a much more senior role.

I agree with you there. Blake is a great reporter. So all the best to him for going to Melbourne to build upon his career. i ACTUALLY didn’t know he left Seven Perth, goes to show how out of touch I am with Seven News down here.

It’s a surprise that Dean has returned after a few years away, most likely back as a fill in newsreader as well.
