Can’t find it? Anyone got the direct link?
Click on the tweet I linked to above, the video’s there!
Bloody hell he brings a sense of authority, good move Seven! Move him to weeknights immediately!
With Usher’s arrival, Doyle moves down a rung. There is no doubt he was nabbed to replace Ferguson. If Usher’s first 15mins are anything to go by, Ferguson won’t last past 2016 in the main chair. He has a presence about him that Ferguson is sorely missing.
I do not like the harbour bridge/opera house shots on the side. It should be the moving globe as they do during sport or even a control room shot.
The first block of Michael Usher’s debut on Seven News Sydney:
Musher is not exceptional, but certainly better than Mark Ferguson.
“Ryan Phelan drives me now” quickly corrected to "joins me"
Haha …
But he has such an authority about him, a very good news anchor!
What happened to the sports stadium shot used in sports in Seven Sydney?
They changed a couple of nights ago. It’s now the moving globe, which was the national backdrop before the current.
There is nothing like an hour of LIVE tv where you sit on a set by yourself to test out how good you are… and Michael is showing great signs on NIGHT ONE!
There were a slight blooper between Musher and Ryan Phelan, but the two of them handled it very professionally, and Musher is definitely looking better than Ferguson. Looks like Ferguson is screwed if Musher presents like this consistently.
Usher reminds me a bit of a young Peter Hitchener, he looks and sounds good on air.
He does come across stronger than Ferguson - not as monotone so a sense of personality, and more authoritative. Will be interesting to watch the ratings over the next few weeks!
As Michael will probably be presenting weeknights over Summer it will be interesting to see if they simply just leave him there coming into 2017.
Although, if they want to limit speculation about Ferguson’s job, I think that they will;
a) Give Mark a few Sundays off (long weekend)
b) Have someone else like Ann or Chris Reason fill-in the weeknight chair.
Don’t forget, we have been saying that Seven will/should get rid of Mark in the weeknight chair since 2014.
I think they’ll just gradually expand his days, soon he’ll be doing Sunday too then they’ll just keep adding days and pushing Ferguson further along the week…if the ratings are also suggestive
Like this comment if you think Michael Usher did well tonight in the bulletin.
I have a feeling, it will depend on ratings (not just if he’s a better presenter or better looking than Mark Ferguson).
However I agree, they should switch.
Fergo would at least have to be given weekend news if it happens, seeing he signed a new $700,000 contract or something this year?
Anyway… Looks like a watch this space for Seven News Sydney. Ch 7 have had a terrific year
