He is always on Sunrise but two things:

  1. It has been a while since he presented the news, especially in Sydney, so it may affect the audiences’ response. Plus he breathes Ten to me.
    2)Apparently he is a touchy subject, so not really good PR for Seven.

Bringing Ron Wilson to Seven’s Sydney 6pm bulletin probably would’ve been a great idea 20 years ago, when the network’s hour of news/current affairs was really struggling against the powerhouse that was Nine.

These days? Not so much. I’d suggest that Seven should try and lure over some presenters who are currently on Nine or Ten (like they are doing/did with Michael Usher), rather than one who hasn’t had a regular role on Sydney TV screens for quite some time and is probably at the twilight of his decades long media career.

True to form, Seven hits the “Mark Alert” button.

Can’t Seven Sydney trust their weekend/fill-in newsreaders to do an efficient job at delivering major stories to their audience? Does this strategy even make a difference to Seven’s weekend news ratings?

I believe that it is the weekend of Nine News Sydney’s relaunch, so next weekend. Correct me if I am wrong.

I definitely think that Seven would want to pre-empt the Nine News Sydney relaunch (something I think will almost certainly be introduced with a blaze of publicity) by having Michael Usher on next Friday/Saturday night.

Realistically though, I wouldn’t be too surprised if Michael Usher doesn’t make his On-Air debut at Seven until the end of October.

Looking at Michaels instagram he is currrently on holiday in Amercia he said in one of his posts last days of leave.
So probably making his debut on Seven very soon

Nope. Chris Reason presenting in Sydney today. Chris Reason is probably presenting weekend bulletins until Michael Usher comes. Better get used to the all-male line up!

I think that was the case even when Mel Doyle was presenting weekends.
