I almost suspect someone’s telling them to use this intonation. Mike is actually pretty good but needs to get rid of the intonation, control his voice.

Who do you think the best candidate is to present Seven’s Afternoon News in Melbourne? (I ask this because this is the only market where it is a merry-go-round).

Currently Mike Amor presents from Mon-Wed and he is perfect in the role.Jacqueline Felgate presents Thurs and Fri but I think Laurel Irving is a far more superior newsreader and should replace Jacqueline permanently.
I also think Blake Johnson is a good newsreader but hasn’t been used in recent months,it will be interesting to see the next time Mike Amor is away on weekends who replaces him normally it’s Blake Johnson but now the other option is Laurel Irving.

Judging from Laurel’s recent bulletin, looks like she managed a consistent tone while presenting. So best pick is her, followed by Blake Johnson. Mike Amor isn’t a bad idea, I just think weekend is enough for him as to allow him to do more on-field reporting, which I believe is his strength.
I don’t think Blake Johnson has presented a bulletin for several months now. Probably a good thing as he makes a lot of on air errors.
Laurel leaves them all for dead as presenter. Followed by Mike. I wouldn’t even rate Jacqui and Blake IMO.

I’d rate Laurel Irving and Blake Johnson as the best newsreaders at HSV-7, followed by Mike Amor (if he can improve his presentation by not shouting out the headlines and improve his tone then he would be up there) and Emily Angwin (when she was there). Don’t rate Jacqueline Felgate as newsreader at all.
Peter Mitchell used to be great but now he’s unwatchable with all the yelling in his presentation.
