Seven News Presenters and Reporters (2015-Sept 2020)

Katrina Blowers? Another good reason not watch. Georgina Lewis is the only decent reader left in QLD.

Sad news coming from the mountain and a big loss. Kay taught me a lot about the business when I was an intern at BTQ.

Katrina Blowers is a real light weight in comparison to Kay. I can see Seven’s weekend ratings dropping next year. Seven didn’t treat Kay (and Rod) well after swapping her out of weekday news reading.

Katrina is certainly not in the same league as Kay. But it has been very clear that they have been grooming Katrina to replace Sharyn for years now. Katrina has been filling in for Kay ever since she moved to weekends and she is the most senior presenter/reporter in the newsroom.

Of course ratings will drop. But, Katrina usually maintains the lead when she fills in. Who do you suggest, other than Rod, as a replacement for Kay?

I wonder how long compadre Rod has on the Gold Coast.

I don’t think any of their current news readers are a worthy replacement; but that’s Seven’s fault. I wonder if Joel Dry would be good as a presenter.

Whats Jillian Whiting up to these days, I think she would be great.

They should’ve poached Wendy Kingston from Nine.

Jim Wilson and Chris Bath had been caught in the current NSW bushfire crisis as they tried desperately to protect their family home.

Katrina Blowers is a great choice to replace Kay.

Kay has had a fantastic career, and her work serving the community throughout Queensland in recent years has meant she really is working 7 days a week. Something had to give and 7 News was the obvious choice.

Katrina maintains the lead on weekends, I think she’ll continue to do so.

Hopefully Kay gets the send off she deserves… and hopefully Rod, Max and Sharyn are all there for it. 7 Queensland owe a great deal to Kay.

Jillian does do some freelance work for 7, she’s popped up on Sunrise. But her main role now is media training: https://www.mediapotential.com.au/

Katrina is absolutely a worthy replacement. She’s been the summer fill-in with Max Futcher for many years. She’s also filled in at 4pm and weekends.

Now the search will be on for who to replace Katrina as the go-to fill-in.

Joel Dry is far better in the field than at the desk - much like Reaso in Sydney.

Jillian has been on Queensland Weekender for nearly a decade… until now of course with that show being cancelled.

Not true, I think you’ll find it was a joke.

Ugh, still don’t know how he was poached for the main 6pm gig, no personality and boring as watching paint dry… Bill McDonald was way better.

He wasn’t poached. He was already at 7 for years before he became 6pm anchor.

But judging by 7’s performance in SE QLD, Max seems to be the better choice. Bill didn’t seem to fit the picture as the ratings gained a bit more momentum when they “mutually parted ways”.

While I certainly wouldn’t doubt that we’ll eventually see Katrina Blowers co-presenting Seven News Queensland on weeknights alongside Max Futcher, surely they won’t do to Sharyn (ie, move to weekends for the pre-retirement years) what they did to Kay?

Interesting question, although the same could probably be asked about Bruce Paige on Nine.

Sharyn is now in her early 50s and I could see her remaining on weeknights for at least another four or five years.

Kay was shafted to weekends when she was 56.

Viewers seem to disagree.

Max is a fantastic journalist and a great storyteller. Hes particularly good presenting in the field.
