Thursday 13 June -
Angie Asimus presenting Morning News and Sydney Afternoon News.
Peter Mitchell is now on holidays for his mid year break.
I expect Blake Johnson will be doing weekends for the next couple of weeks.
Friday & Saturday -
Blake Johnson is presenting in Melbourne.
With Mike Amor presenting Sunday -Thursday in Melbourne while Peter Mitchell is on holidays.
Isnât it funny how weâve had Jim Wilson from 7NEWS Melbourne to Sydney - then Brownie from 7NEWS Melbourne to Sydney.
The next thing you know, Mitch will presenting 7NEWS Sydney !
EDIT > and Mark Beretta from 7NEWS Melbourne to Sunrise.
âŚyet over many many years, 7NEWS Melbourne has always played second fiddle to Nine ?
Same thing could happen if Basil Zempilas (Seven News Perth weeknight sports presenter since 2000) moves to Sydney to replace Jim Wilson in the near future.
Though what I would have is this:
Morning News
News with Ann Sanders (Monday-Thursday), Sally Bowrey (Friday)
Sport with Mel McLaughlin (Monday-Tuesday), Basil Zempilas (Wednesday-Friday)
Weather with David Brown (Monday-Thursday), Angie Asimus (Friday)
Sydney Afternoon News
News with Ann Sanders (Monday-Thursday), Sally Bowrey (Friday)
Sport with Mel McLaughlin (Monday-Tuesday), Basil Zempilas (Wednesday-Friday)
Weather with David Brown (Monday-Thursday), Angie Asimus (Friday)
Seven News Sydney
News with Mark Ferguson (Sunday-Thursday), Michael Usher (Friday-Saturday)
Sport with Mel McLaughlin (Sunday-Wednesday), Basil Zempilas (Thursday-Saturday)
Weather with David Brown (Sunday-Thursday), Angie Asimus (Friday)
Basil would continue on Weekend Sunrise making his working days Wednesdays-Sundays.
In Perth, Adrian Barich would be promoted to Mondays-Fridays and Ryan Daniels would cover weekends.
When Sue retires, and if Natalie Barr is offered the chance to return home to Perth:
Seven News Perth
News with Rick Ardon and Natalie Barr (weeknights), Angela Tsun (weekends)
Sport with Adrian Barich (weeknights), Ryan Daniels (weekends)
Weather with Samantha Jolly (weeknights)
A local edition of The Latest would be presented by Natalie Barr.
Mike Amor presenting the Morning News today
Monday 17 June -
Jacqueline Felgate is presenting sport on Morning News.
With the calibre of presenters they have at the moment, this would Iâd do if I was the current Director of News at Seven Sydney:
News with Michael Usher (Sunday to Thursday) and Chris Reason (Friday/Saturday)
Sport with Michelle Bishop (Sunday to Thursday) and Jim Wilson (Friday/Saturday)
Weather with David Brown (Sunday to Thursday) and Angie Asimus (Friday/Saturday)
Morning & Sydney 4pm News:
News with Ann Sanders (Monday-Thursday), Mark Ferguson (Friday)
Sport with Michelle Bishop (Monday-Thursday), Mel McLaughlin (Friday)
Weather with David Brown (Monday-Thursday), Angie Asimus (Friday)
Mark Ferguson & Mel McLaughlin get demoted to presenting the Friday Morning/Sydney 4pm bulletins + the 5pm national weekend bulletins. The Latest is axed with resources funnelled back into Seven News Sydney so the currently dire quality (reallyâŚoutside of the weather coverage, there isnât anything good to pull viewers away from Nine) of that bulletinâs content can be improved.
Of course itâs unlikely than any of this will ever happen but one can dream, right?
My reaction would probably be words to the effect of âYeah, well good luck to Seven putting a sports presenter whoâs relatively unknown to Sydney viewers up against Cameron Williams and Erin Molanâ!
Basil is associated with AFL so wouldnât be a good move. If he was going to continue in a sports presenter role then what is the point of moving from Perth to Sydney. I can see him giving up a role but I donât see him moving to Sydney (happy to be corrected if this actually does occur)
Monday 17 June -
Chris Reason is presenting Afternoon News in Sydney.
Heâd move to sydney more for Weekend Sunrise i would think and the sports gig would fill up his week.
As pointed out by @antazz, Jim Wilson and David Brown both presented sport and weather on Seven News Melbourne, respectively, earlier this century. Both are doing the same thing in Sydney (albeit Wilson on Fridays-Saturdays after being on weeknights between 2012-early 2016).
Now imagine if Rick and Sue did move to Sydney to present Seven News, which no-one of us can see happening any time soon.
How long is he usually away for?
I get the point, but disagree slightly - its all about viewer familiarity and warmness. I think the last thing 7 News Sydney needs is Basil, considering his profile. Yes he is great but Sydney needs Michelle Bishop as @SydneyCityTV made reference to.
David Brown was a bit different, he was basically stripped of his job in Melbourne at 7 when they lured him over to Sydney as no network in Melbourne was going to bring him on board when every network has long serving weather presenters.
David Brown was also the weather presenter on the nationally screened afternoon bulletin (which Iâd imagine would be a higher rating program than Weekend Sunrise) for a decade or so.
Tuesday 18 June -
Mike Amor is presenting Morning News again today.
This time of the year it would be for two weeks.
