Seven News Presenters and Reporters (2015-Sept 2020)

Actually the third, but expect there are more…

Chris Bath (10 News) and Jim Wilson (Seven News)

How did I not remember that!?!?

I also think the publicity generated by them anchoring Seven News Sydney between mid-2012 and the end of 2013 also resulted in the masses switching over to Nine News during this period, to the point of no return.

To this day I think Seven made a huge mistake by going for style over substance and appointing Chris Bath to weeknights in 2010 following the retirement of Ian Ross. No sexism intended, but Chris Reason would’ve been a better choice as he has that authority in him while presenting news bulletins.

Chris Reason is a great journalist, and I think he needs to be on the road presenting reports. It also may have been his choice to not be at the desk.

I think Chris Bath did an excellent job over her years at 7. She had fronted updates and bulletins for many years prior to taking over 6pm and her appointment was deserved.

Monday 3 June-

Jacqueline Felgate presenting sport on Morning News from the Melbourne studio.
She is probably now the regular Monday sports presenter.

I think it would make sense for her to become the permanent Monday sports presenter on Seven News given she would be presenting the Melbourne afternoon news later in the day.

If this is the case, it’s a good appointment.

The Sunday Telegraph reports that Jim Wilson is being tipped to join the NRL as head of media and communications, and has already been interviewed by NRL CEO Todd Greenberg and Australian Rugby League Commission chairman Peter Beattie.

If confirmed, it will be a big loss for Seven, especially since he is expected to be part of the network’s coverage of Tokyo Olympics next year.
